Listen up chilluns. I want to let you in on a little secret about the universe. Remixes are always better. If you think otherwise, it's probably because you're a fucking clown. Now stop asking questions and steal the music posted below, because it's awesome.
The first time I heard this song was in the middle of an epic set by Tiesto on Ibiza. Let me tell you, this shit absolutely rocked the place. People - myself included - went completely mental when this song came on. Be patient and let it build up through the first minute or so.
I hate Katy Perry. That said, this HYPERCRUSH remix of California Gurls is absolutely 100% certified bomb. Like, nuclear-grade-bomb.
I don't really know much about Dem Slackers, but what I do know is that this next song is extremely Bright & Shiny and that you need to listen to it as soon as possible.
Major Lazer has always had a really cool reggae-feel to their electro songs, but I never thought they made it completely coherent enough to fully work. With that said, they definitely got it right on this Gyptian remix; the Reggae singing on top of the muted synth bloops adds up to a nice chill house song.
Ferry Corsten + System F team up for a badass remix of Lady Gaga's Alejandro.
This remix of a classic Fake Blood track is the funkiest and grooviest thing you will hear all day. It builds up through the first minute but after that it's straight funktastic Bright & Shiny house.
Shinichi Osawa is real cool. This Mustard Pimp remix is straight electro fire. That's pretty much all you need to know.
Dada Life has been doing great remixes for a while now. They're at it again with this reworking of Alex Gopher's Handguns.
MSTRKRFT and Metric hail from more or less two different ends of the electronic music spectrum. They find common ground on this awesome remix.
A-Trak's remixes are always sweet. This groovey synth banger is no different.
This Alex Metric reworking of a Beastie Boys classic is one that you don't want to miss.
HOMEWORK
If you haven't already noticed, I finish all my posts with a homework session. The point of these sessions is that I lower your defenses with a post chock full of wonderful music, and then proceed to floor you with some serious shit at the end, if you can handle it, with the intentions of broadening your musical horizons. This week's homework assignment is no different. The first place I heard these next two songs was in Space Ibiza during a pulsing, grinding, absolutely mind-blowing set by the legendary 2ManyDjs. Hope you can handle it.Blatta & Inesha - Pet Massage (Elektropusher Remix)
Dada Life - Let's Get Bleeped Tonight (Don Rimini's Still Skill Kill Remix)
Oh and if you haven't already, meet 2ManyDjs;
p.s all of today's tracks are meant to be played on a quality sound system (car?) or headphones, listening to them on a pc or laptop is highly UNrecommended. Do yourself a favor.
