These Are Bombs

It's been far too long since I posted around here - what's up with that? I'm not really sure, but I do know that I'm here now with a heaping serving of good music to make up for it. Today's post comes in two sections, first the more mainstream festival-style bangers, and second the more underground side of things, so feel free to browse accordingly. *Also be on the lookout for me and Sir Real's monstrous review of the Electric Zoo festival in New York, which will be coming out in the next couple days.

Festival-Style Bangers
Some of you might have these next two already, so I'll get them over with first, but they're simply too good for me not to post. First off, the new Dada Life is absolutely epic. Olle and Stefan have cooked up another instant classic here following the Dada Life recipe for success: start with a catchy, simple melody, add in some hard-hitting electro, mix in a couple massive build ups, top it all off with some bannanas and champagne, and poof, Happy Violence. Show them some love and grab the release on Beatport here.
Download: Dada Life - Happy Violence (Original Mix)

Next up is the newest release from the Swedish wunderkid everyone's talking about right now - no not Avicii - Alesso, alongside Sebastian Ingrosso from the Swedish House Mafia. This track is pure joy from start to finish. Beatport release.
Download: Alesso & Sebastian Ingrosso - Calling (Original Instrumental Mix)

I'm not particularly crazy about these MC Flipside vocals (or any vocals he's ever done for that matter), but Adrian Lux and Blende make this song well worth listening to with the dope, sort of 80's feeling electro drop that they've fashioned. This track really knocks when its played on the right soundsystem. Check the full release on BEATPORT.
Download: Roger Sanchez & Mobin Master ft. MC Flipside - Worldwide (Adrian Lux & Blende Remix)

Another club-oriented banger, this one is a track that I managed to completely sleep on when it got released a couple months ago. This track isn't your average heavy grinding Felix Cartal electro track, rather it's a tasteful balance of progressive, dutch, and electro influences and the result is a really catchy and highly listenable club banger. A testament to how good this remix is; this is the version Benny himself is dropping in his sets these days instead of the original.
Download: Chris Brown ft. Benny Benassi - Beautiful People (Felix Cartal Club Mix)

Underground Sounds
If you only download one track from this entire post, make sure it's this next one. I simply can't get enough of this remix. "How Deep Is [my] Love" for this remix you might ask? DEEP. VERY DEEP. I'M IN LOVE. I could listen to this song on repeat for days. The thundering piano stabs wash across the track like Picasso's paint strokes across a fresh canvas. They embody everything good and wonderful in this world. And the way that the bass is engineered to make the track really sway without a lot going on is just masterful. Excellent, excellent work by Wax Motif & Neoteric. Busy P dropped this during his set at Electric Zoo the other week and it was simply sublime, but more on that later in our official review.. The coolest part of all this? They gave the track away for free, so you don't have to feel guilty about downloading it below.
Download: The Rapture - How Deep Is Your Love (Wax Motif & Neoteric Remix)

Bright & Shiny favorite, Danny Daze from Miami, recently gave away this Madonna bootleg for free on his facebook. What a gentleman. Deep, lush vibes as always from mr. Daze. Check the preview for his forthcoming EP with Matches below too, it looks like it's shaping up to be pretty amazing.
Download: Madonna - Bedtime Stories (Danny Daze Dark Rooms Mix)

Danny Daze & Matches - If This (Original) by Danny Daze

Our friends over at La Bombe sent us this promo the other week, and I have to say, this track is definitely a 'bombe'. Dutch duo TWR72 give the classic 'Hysterisis' by our homeboy Sharooz a pulsing, absolutely mental reworking here. This remix has already been supported by the likes of Brodinski, NT89, and PeaceTreaty among others and I can see why. The track was released yesterday on Beatport, be sure to grab a copy HERE.
Sharooz - Hysteresis (TWR72 Remix) by La Bombe

And finally to round things out, The Bingo Players give Sander Van Doorn's biggest single of 2011, 'Koko', a completely sideways and thumping do-over with their remix. Reminds me a lot of their remix of 'Welcome Home', in the best way possible. Can you say massive?

HARD Summer Snack Pack

So Bright & Shiny is chilling in downtown LA right now, here for HARD Summer Music Festival tomorrow, which of course we'll bring you full coverage of including a review of what's sure to be an epic night (the lineup is unreal, have a look for yourself). Anyway, I'm gonna have to keep this post short since the internet in the hotel is absolutely god awful (seriously, might as well be dial up, I didn't know wifi this slow existed anywhere..) Also be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Bright & Shiny crew handing out stickers (and other assorted swag) in the crowd.

Ever since I first grabbed this one from our friends over at DSCOTech, I've pretty much been playing it nonstop. Dutch youngster Alvaro has concocted a ludicrously catchy slice of dutch house here. Just listen to the vocals, such gold..
Download: Sak Noel - Loca People (ALVARO Remix)

Hardwell just seems to be getting better and better with every song he releases. This song mimics that trajectory actually, as it literally only gets bigger and better as it progresses. You think you've heard it all by the 1:30 mark, until Hardwell decides to pull a fast one and absolutely blows the roof off the track with an unexpected and amazing twist of a drop at the 2:00 mark. This track is bigger than huge, it's certified gigantic.
Download: DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans - Louder (Hardwell Remix)

New Bart B More & Tommie Sunshine collaboration, 'Bodywork'is absolutely mental. This is acid house at its best. It feels like this was made to be dropped in some dark sweaty basement rave somewhere. Straight up lunacy. Show the dudes some love and grab the release off of Calvin Harris' record label Fly Eye Records on beatport HERE.
Download: Bart B More & Tommie Sunshine - Bodywork (Original Mix)

Finally Swedish youngster Alesso gives the new LMFAO single a refreshing progressive makeover here that makes the track 10000 million times better in my opinion. A hint on how he did it ? He got rid of all the vocals...(and sprinkled some Swedish magic on there too)
Download: LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (Alesso Remix)

Bright & Shiny Picks for HARD Summer 2011
Dillon Francis 6:20 / Shit Robot 6:45
Gesaffelstein 7:15-8:15 (MUST SEE)
Juan Maclean (DJ Set) 7:45 - 9:00
Ratatat 8:50-9:50
Siriusmo 9:20-10:20 (another MUST SEE in our opinion) or Jack Beats 9:15-10:15
Chromeo 10:15-11:15
Digitalism 10:30-11:30 or Holy Ghost! 10:30-11:30
Duck Sauce or James Murphy or Busy P 11:30 (Can't really go wrong with any of those)
Boys Noize or Carte Blanche (DJ Mehdi & Riton) to close the night out.

(Fire)

Nicky Romero's masterful reworking of Green Velvet's Flash is a track that everyone has heard by now, (whether they know it or not) as it was played at just about every festival in the world for this past year. Romero has come up with another huge track on his remix of Sidney Samson's Dynamite here. The name 'Dynamite' is fitting because thats exactly what this track is.. dynamite. The drop is  ridiculously big. The first time I heard it I thought it was almost too jarring how suddenly it just slams you in the face, but the more and more I'm listening to it the more I'm realizing it's straight genius. I can't even imagine this track blasting out of the speakers in a festival setting... it would be simply ridiculous. Crank this one up to 11 and fast forward to the 1:00 minute mark
Sidney Samson, Tara McDonald - Dynamite (Nicky Romero Remix)

I'm actually completely mystified that this next track never got more attention from everyone, including by myself. I only bothered to download it the other day, but why I have no idea. Avicii and Daft Punk, that's like a dream combination.. And this track actually lives up to the hype. Avicii takes the ominous Daft Punk track Derezzed from the recent Tron movie and transforms it into an elating wondrous chunk of melodic house. I remember Avicii dropping this main stage at ultra and watching  the entire crowd go berserk, people jumping all over the place and every single hand reaching straight into the air.. This one's a banga
Daft Punk - Derezzed (Avicii Remix)

Up next I have two new tracks from Dutch duo Bingo Players. Just a warning, if you're looking for another 'Cry (Just A Little)' you're not about to get it. These two tracks are more along the lines of the duo's first breakthrough hit 'Devotion,' showcasing a really unique, stripped-down tribal style of dutch house. Both of these tracks are completely bonkers. Fellow Dutch duo Chocolate Puma's deserves credit for their influence on the second track, 'Disco Electrique' too.
Bingo Players - Get On Move (Original Mix)

Bingo Players & Chocolate Puma - Disco Electrique (Vocal Mix)

Swedish youngster Alesso has been on the tip of everyone's tongue recently after his massive remix of Pressure basically took over the world, getting a #1 spot on the beatport charts and finding its way into sets by everyone from Avicii to Swedish House Mafia. He's back here on a huuuuge remix of the recent SHM single 'Save The World', taking the track and giving it a (much needed) harder edge than the original. The drop around the 4:30 mark is incredible.
Swedish House Mafia - Save The World (Alesso Remix)

Rising Dutch star R3hab shows here that he can do more than the standard off-the-wall dutch house drops that he's known for, going for a more progressive leaning sound on this one. Absolute big-room thumper, this song shows why R3hab's one of the fastest growing names coming out of the Netherlands right now. BOMB
Cahill, Joel Edwards - In Case I Fall (R3hab Remix)

Finally I need the help of everyone in the Bright & Shiny nation with a beatport account on this one. Whether you know it or not, there's currently a remix competition going on for Afrojack & Quintino's track Selecta. The winner gets an official release on Afrojack's label, Wall Recordings, along with a bunch of other cool stuff. My good friend Ekstra has recently submitted his own remix, and I need all of your help in the voting process to help get him some attention. The voting is really simple, all you have to do is go to THIS PAGE, log in on the top right and then hit 'spin it' on the player next to his song. Any support would be awesome, this kid works really hard and could really use the recognition. Plus his remix is about 20 million times better than every single one ahead of him in the voting process (check for yourself, all the other ones are garbage). Let's get this kid some spins!
Peep two of his newest tracks below, including the Afrojack Remix:

Atmos w/ Florence and the Machine - You Got the Love (Acapella) (Ekstra Bootleg) by Ekstra

This And That

Summer jobs have consumed my life. Free time has been unexpectedly scarce lately, which has delayed your regular dosing of musical treats. My apologies. So here are a whole lotta songs I've been holding on to and some I've recently come across. Enjoy.

Even if this song weren't golden I would still be posting it solely because of my love for Super Smash Bros. (For those of you who don't get the reference, go and find yourself a childhood). However, this guy doesn't just have a sweet name. Avery Henderson, Falcon Punch, takes the 70's track Darlin' by Delegration, keeps the bassline and guitar riffs, flips a few things around, and cuts most of the original vocals to produce this gem.

Falcon Punch - Where You'll Stay [Download]

Para One and San Serac recently teamed up to form Slice & Soda and released a Year of The Dragon EP with a few remixes on it. The Villa remix adds quite a bit more energy to the otherwise plain original, spicing it up with a higher tempo and more intense instrumentals.

Slice & Soda - Year of The Dragon (Villa Remix) [Download]

Afrojack remixes an indie pop band song? OK, I'll go with it. He doesn't seem to take his usual approach, but there's still a distinct Dutch house sound in the drop. If your undecided about the lyrics, like some seem to be, there's also an instrumental version. Props to the Afroman for branching out.

The Wombats - Techno Fan (Afrojack Extended Club Remix) [Download]

16 year old French producer, Madeon, Does some serious work on this Deadmau5 original. He pretty much only uses the vocals of Greta Svabo Bech and does the rest hemself, which pleases me because he gets rid of all that dubstep nonsense. The heavier electro comes in at around 1:23 and is gorgeous. He has complex production skillz seldom shown by anyone near his age. If you haven't checked out any of his originals, his remix of The Island, or his remix of Que Veux Tu, also posted in our Yelle interview, please do so here. Look out for this kid.

Madeon - Shuriken [Download]

Julio Bashmore touches up this Classixx song with his signature beats and synths and doesn't dissapoint.

Classixx - Into The Valley ft. Karl Dixon (Julio Bashmore Remix) [Download]

This Swedish young gun signed with Sebastian Ingrosso's label, Refune, released his 'Dynamite' EP a few months ago, has come out with huge remixes, and has been supported by the likes of Avicii, SHM, and Pete Tong. Alesso is blowing up fast. If you haven't heard of him already, the songs I'm about to throw at you will surely convince you of his ability.

Alesso - Dynamite [Download]

Alesso - Nillionaire [Download]

Tim Berg - Alcoholic (Alesso Taking it Back Remix) [Download]

Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji - Pressure (Alesso Remix) [Download]

B&S favorite, Sharooz, just sent ya boi, Patrick, a new track that's due to release on Beatport this Monday. Listen up.
Sharooz - Up by Sharooz

And now, I give you... buffaloes
