So I head down to beautiful Indio in the Sierra Nevada mountains tomorrow for the first day of two weekends of Coachella that I'll be attending, and to say that I'm excited would be an understatement of monstrous proportions. I'm elated. I'm ecstatic. I hope I've made you jealous enough... anyway, here's what we'll be blasting on the roadtrip down.
In honor of the picture above and the fact that I'll probably spend most of the next couple days camped out in the sahara tent, we'll start with some Boys Noize. Somehow I managed to overlook this remix for the longest time, but not anymore. This one is an instant classic. I love the breakdown about halfway through. Industrial future electro.
download: Daft Punk - End of Line (Boys Noize Remix)
THE festival anthem of the year is finally here. I won't even try to explain this song, because no words I could string together would come close to describing its sheer hugeness, so grab it below and find out what I'm talking about.
download: Nari & Milani - Atom (Original Mix)
I had the pleasure of attending RAC at my college last night (fo free, how cool is that?), and the dudes were definitely solid. This chilled down remix by them is one of my favorites.
download: Washed Out - New Theory (RAC Remix)
Tiger Stripes getting all kinds of freaky on this one, in all the right ways.
download: Tiger Stripes - Crossroads (Original Mix)
This new Brodisnki is.. well.. I'm sure you can already guess. It's absolutely killer. Those massive rave swells make me wanna jump around like a total crazy person. Actually, that may or may not be what I'm doing as I write this..
Gucci Vump (aka Brodinski & Guillaume from the Shoes) with a great piece of analog, retro-sounding electro here. Also with their signature slurred down hip hop influence definitely evident in certain parts.
download: Arnaud Robotini - Another Time, Another Place (Gucci Vump Remix)
Big Room shenanigans from our favorite bros out of San Diego.
download: Ape Drums - Jungle Rock (No Body Remix)
This bassline is absolutely lethal. The vocals, on the other hand, are either wonderfully hypnotic or a tad too repetitive - of course, that's probably dependent on your recent chemical intake...
download: David August - You Got To Love Me (Original Mix)
Bonus deepness from No Artificial Colours. These dudes are the truth.

Eat and Be Merry
Hey guys, I've been working on a mix for the past couple days and I think it turned out pretty well. It's a deeper mix than my previous one, comprised mostly of deep house of different varieties, from latin to jazz to lush, synth heavy experimental. Great for relaxing on the beach or what have you. Give it a listen, lemme know what you think. Track list on my SoundCloud.
Boston dance duo, Nightriders, earned themselves a well deserved spot on the new Magnifik EP, actually getting two remixes of the same track onto the EP. Below is my favorite remix from the bunch. A nice, deep, house track that is reminiscent of some 90's house. Dreamy synths and vocals accompanied by voluptuous piano chords make this track a great soundtrack to your late night activities.
This next one is by one of my favorite artists, RAC. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the subtlety of their instrumentation and the way they maintain the integrity of the original artists interpretation while still creating their own place on the track is impressive. Noah and the Whale is a one of my preferred indie bands and RAC's interpretation takes an already great track to a new level.
Straight out of Budapest, Hungary, I bring you Tits & Clits. With a ridiculous name like that, you better be bringing some musical heat. They have several remixes on their SoundCloud page, some of which are free downloads, but by far my favorite is the one below. This track has a great big-bandesque sound that feels a couple generations old. Love the vocal cuts and trombone lines.
Here we have TEPR's track of the month that he released on his website. It is a relatively simple club house track, but none the less a fine example of French musicianship. More signature TEPR synths comin' at you.
Last but not least, I bring you Sweaters. I stumbled upon this guy on SoundCloud and was very pleased to hear the two latest tracks on his page. His self described genre category of 'Dreamy Dance Wave' could not be more accurate. Upbeat and filled with wonderful acoustic and electric instrument recordings, these tracks show you that this is one artist you should look out for in the future.

I'm an F-18, Bro
I've said it before and I'll say it again; I love RAC. They are wizards when it comes to remixing. They choose such subtle and cohesive instrumentation and they keep the integrity of the song while still drastically improving upon it. Roughly three years ago, RAC released a remix album called RAC VOL 1 that was critically acclaimed and really laid the groundwork for this awesome collective. Today, March 4th, they have finally released their second volume on their website and it's FREE. Below are two tracks that I've been abusing over the past week ever since I heard them, but if you fancy yourself a music enthusiast, you should just hop on over to their website and download the entire album in a nice little .zip file (or just click here).
Suckers - Black Sheep (RAC Remix)Washed Out - New Theory (RAC Remix)
Dance Ritual was founded in 1998 by two of dance music's most respected artists, Louie Vega and Joe Claussell. The two wanted to create a party without musical boundaries, where African, Jazz, Latin, Soul, Gospel, R&B, and Brazilian sounds would blend through house forms. Vega is unquestionably a major force in house music, both as a producer and DJ, and Dance Ritual is his cultural and spiritual home. Without further adieu, here are a couple tracks I've been fiending over lately.
Black Coffee feat. Hugh Masekela - We Are One (Dance Ritual Mix)Hardrive: 2000 feat. Lynae - Never Forget (When You Touch Me) (Dance Ritual Mix)
I recently found out that Tepr plans on releasing one track at the beginning of each upcoming month on his website (www.tepr.net). This month's track is definitely club ready. A bit on the deeper side, but with those standard Tepr floating synth lines that really create a dancing atmosphere in pretty much any setting. Enjoy this in all its free glory.
Tepr - RigoleaseNow, Quinten 909 uploaded this track to his soundcloud 1 month ago, but just recently decided to make it available for download out of the kindness in his own heart. French/Disco House master does it again. Repetitive but insatiably pleasing to the ears, You're My Friend will undoubtedly soothe your troubled brain.
Quinten 909 - You're My FriendBrand new Classixx original guys. It sort of sounds like it's in the same vein as the Ghost Busters theme song... pure 80's cheese, from the funky bass line to the nostalgic synth guitar chord stabs. These lyrics... I'm beginning to think this is actually an 80's song. Anyways, here.
Classixx - Fortunate StarNow this one is from 2007, but I recently began listening to it and I have to say... I wish more music was made like this. SebastiAn is an Ed Banger GOD and he needs to release more music for me to froth over. This crunchy kick drum and the grimey bass synth... yum yum yum.

Workin' the Machines
We've been having record numbers of daily visitors over the past week here at Bright and Shiny, and I just wanted to thank you guys for choosing B&S. One day, you'll all be able to say "Oh, yeah, I knew about them way before they were famous," and everyone will fear and revere you. Happy Friday boys 'n' girls.
First up today is a great deeper house track by Para One. It really comes into its own right around the 1 minute mark with some great guitar synths and whistling. Trust in me, just in me, you'll like what you hear.
Empire Ants is one of my favorite tracks off of Plastic Beach, and true to their nature, Miami Horror slays this remix. They add some great stabbing chords and a more dancey kick to create a really nice upbeat feel to the whole track.
Bag Raiders song turned bang0r thanks to the wiz production of Light Year. At the 1:03 minute mark, spontaneous combustion.
Electro + Hiphop is generally a winning combination. Bright and Shiny favorite Vodka & Milk unleashes the hounds on this J. Cole track. Lights please.
Clock Opera makes some seriously catchy electro. High flying melodies and harmonies mesh perfectly in this remix to create that 'bright and shiny' feel that you guys crave. Get it while it's hot.
What I really love about RAC remixes is the subtlety they use in their instrumentation. I love their synth choices, and how they so readily maintain the integrity of the original while still enhancing it and making it their own.
Flight Facilities seems to produce music for my ears specifically. Vocals courtesy of electropop sensation Cut Copy off of their new album Zonoscope. The brushed bell synths and the seagulls create a summery beach feel that will have you yearning for those long carefree days. This song has been stuck in my head all day...
Bonus:
Nightrider's newest remix is absolute FIRE.

You think you invented being bad?
Here's some pretty cool stuff:
Fare Soldi just does it better. Santana Pasta and Luka Carnifull make up this disco loving Italian duo and they're here to make you dance. And dance you shall.
A seriously bass driven Flashworx remix of a sassy Rosin Murphy single. Compelling track, as per usual with Mr. Hammer.
Burns, Fred Falke, Mix Chopin, and Ghosts of Venice all brought together on one track? I wonder what genre this one is gonna be. (Just kidding I don't).
Poka is setting some new standards in French house recently despite his Greek nationality. Right as you think things might be getting a wee bit repetitive, he drops in the vocals. Hook, line, sinker.
Remix Artist Collective (RAC) is a powerhouse of talent. Comprised of three artists, these guys manage to pump out consistently superb remixes as well as individually being involved in many other creative ventures from Entourage to Ra Ra Riot.
Now this track is a bit of a curve ball. As you may or may not know, I'm an avid indie music enthusiast. I love my Ra Ra Riot, my Fleet Foxes, my Vampire Weekend. Today though, the focus is on Noah and the Whale's new single: Wild Thing. Infectious guitar riffs, warm atmospheric synths, calming vocals, interesting lyrics. Check it oooouuuuuutttttttt yeah?
BONUS:
So I'm really struggling here. There's this amazing Shinichi Osawa album that recently came out, and along with it, a remix album titled SO2. There are several amazing remixes on this album and I'd really love to buy it, but this Japanese itunes thing is tripping me up so much so that I remain without this fantastic collection of songs. Remixes from Hidden Cat, Cosmonaut Grechko, LightsOverLA, The Kids are Radioactive, Fabian, and the list goes on. My personal favorite is a very Japanese-y sounding funky remix of Love Will Guide You by Robotaki.
If you manage to find out how to buy it, you can rest assured it's money well spent.
Carte Blanche and Kid Sister really Do! Do! Do! it right with their newest video - watch it!

Get In Line for the Sunshine
Hey guys. I'm sitting here shoving Chick-Fil-A into my mouth and I really don't feel like typing a lot with my greasy ass fingers sooo.... here ya go!
Eumig and Chinon are simply amazing. I've got a sneaking suspicion that one day they're gonna be legendary. This is a nice light summery tune fo yo speakorz.
This is exactly what the doctor ordered. Soothing dreamy synths accompanied by a smooth bass line. This is the first I've heard of Artwork, but after listening to this track, I'm pretty sure it won't be the last.
Nightriders have seriously become a staple on all of my daily playlists. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their funky style. This Boston Dance Duo is doing something right.
Here's a tune with a little bang in it. A Steed Lord remix of a Reset! song. It just SOUNDS like a great combination. Right around 1:26, this one becomes a partypartyparty.
Now I'm not a huge hiphop/rap fan, but even I have to admit that The Pharcyde is where it's at. Here's a seriously beautiful electro styled remix by Philippians. I dare you not to download this song.
Here we have an RAC remix of a song by one of my favorite indie bands, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. A dash of warm synth here and there, and this suddenly becomes a great summer jam.
I just love Siriusmo
