Get In Line for the Sunshine

Hey guys. I'm sitting here shoving Chick-Fil-A into my mouth and I really don't feel like typing a lot with my greasy ass fingers sooo.... here ya go!

Eumig and Chinon are simply amazing. I've got a sneaking suspicion that one day they're gonna be legendary. This is a nice light summery tune fo yo speakorz.

This is exactly what the doctor ordered. Soothing dreamy synths accompanied by a smooth bass line. This is the first I've heard of Artwork, but after listening to this track, I'm pretty sure it won't be the last.

Nightriders have seriously become a staple on all of my daily playlists. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their funky style. This Boston Dance Duo is doing something right.

Here's a tune with a little bang in it. A Steed Lord remix of a Reset! song. It just SOUNDS like a great combination. Right around 1:26, this one becomes a partypartyparty.

Now I'm not a huge hiphop/rap fan, but even I have to admit that The Pharcyde is where it's at. Here's a seriously beautiful electro styled remix by Philippians. I dare you not to download this song.

Here we have an RAC remix of a song by one of my favorite indie bands, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. A dash of warm synth here and there, and this suddenly becomes a great summer jam.

I just love Siriusmo

I'm out for presidents to represent me

Now I know you come here for your daily dose of electro tunage, but first and foremost I'm about that good music, no matter the genre. Yesterday I was at Rock the Bells at Merriweather Post Pavilion with PK's sister, CK, so today's post is gonna be all about hip-hop with some of the bangers you're used to from me below.

The Wizard of Khalifa put on a surprisingly good show full of Kush & OJ. He even brought out Wale for his verse off the mixtape. Good lookin', Pittsburgh. The crowd jumped to this one.
Wiz Khalifa - In The Cut

Lauryn Hill's set was kinda lame, except when she dropped "Ready Or Not". Oh and it was kinda cool when NaS came out for an exclusive verse... To be honest, I didn't even notice (shame on me, I know). I even had to turn around and ask the people standing behind me who it was rapping onstage. When the first word to come out of their mouths was "NaS," I straight lost my shit. Here's my favorite joint from the legendary master of the internal rhyme scheme.
NaS - The World Is Yours [prod. Pete Rock]

The best set of the day was easily that of A Tribe Called Quest, my favorite hip-hoppers of all time. The Tribe brought out Busta Rhymes, who was rocking a fresh ass Germany track jacket, for his verse on "Scenario." Tip and Phife generally went the fuck off; they played the opening of "Award Tour" and brought it back THREE times, and three times the whole crowd lost their shit. After that, Q-Tip, white tee completely soaked through with sweat, proceeded to literally take off his pants. I've got a video of him running around on stage dancing in his drawers on my phone but I can't figure out how to get it onto my PC.
A Tribe Called Quest - Award Tour

A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario ft. Busta Rhymes

the Clubhaus

PK posted a version of this first one with vocals over top, but I'm a crazy mofo so I like this one better.
Stafford Brothers - Wasted (Baba O'Reilly) (Sidney Samson Remix)

Young Buck featured on a a bangin electro joint with a dutchy remix... fuck yeah.
Kissed With A Noise - Watuppp ft. Young Buck (PeaceTreaty Remix)

BONUS!!!
Young Buck - Shorty Wanna Ride

moar Clubhaus
Stripper - Stripper Theme ft. DJ Omega (Original Mix)

Picco - Venga (Chuckie's Back to Voltage Remix)

I'm baaaack

Sorry for the lapse between today and my last post, but my brief time off has given me the chance to snag some great new tunes for you all. Today's post is gonna be a bit of mix-up. I've got songs you can groove to and songs you can snooze to. And songs that will melt your face. Enjoy.

Anything bearing either A-Trak's name or Armand Van Helden's is something to check out immediately. Together, it's almost too much. The two have combined forces recently under the moniker Duck Sauce to produce some incredible house. Look out for them in the future.

Duck Sauce - aNYway

Duck Sauce - You're Nasty

Toro Y Moi continues to produce the most chill-inducing sounds one can find on the internet

Toro y Moi - Low Shoulder

More Miami Horror is always a good thing. I love it when these guys play with that disco house style.

Miami Horror - Holidays

Ocelot's been pumping out some serious dance tunes recently, this is no exception. Check out their EP: Our Time

Ocelot - Vincent's Theme removed by request

So here's the part where you need to make sure your brain is securely fastened to the inside of your skull.

Luciana, Sydney Samson, and Itakuba - I Like That (Spryte Bootleg)

Break this out at your next party. Watch what happens.

Kid Sister - Right Hand High (Riton Vocal Rub)

One doesn't necessarily associate Bag Raiders with big club room bangers. Thanks Harvard Bass!

Bag Raiders - Way Back Home (Harvard Bass Remix)

There you go.

It's What You've Always Wanted

Well it's been too long since I've posted, and I'm sure you've all missed me immensely. But it's all gonna be alright, because I would never leave you. Ever. I have a bit of a curve ball post today, so set aside a few minutes to peruse through this fine selection of tracks. You won't be disappointed.

This first track is a remix of a song that has been a bit over played. That being said, I feel like Van She Tech really spruces it up to the point where it becomes a timeless addition to my musical collection.

LexiconDon dropped their first EP, Pink + Blue, a few days ago on August 24th. Bit Funk, who does no wrong, couldn't resist the opportunity to turn an already fantastic track into a sly killer.

Siriusmo is incredible. Digitalism is incredible. Together they're....IINNCCRREEDDIIBBLLEE.

Here's the curve ball. Today's post has a new section, never been seen before. This section is titled New Talent. Filled with up and coming artists that are just breaking on to the scene with some dirty tracks that will excite your ear drums and cause spontaneous dancing. Enjoy.

First up is a stellar remix by Swedish artist, ODahl, who recently put out an EP on August 4th. Keep an eye out for this guy in the future. Just sayin'.

Knights is a 16 year old from Germany, and he's already making songs like this? This little one's gonna go places. Here's his myspace.

La Bombe is a brand new UK label. Their latest release is a pure gold new EP by 5EYA. Groove to the shiny nu-disco vibes.

LazyDisco only track, More Tigers, is straight fire. Expect great things in the future from this new mysterious group.

Quickly becoming one of my most anticipated new comers, here's Australia's Dublin Aunts with an ever so classy KillaQueenz remix.

Frieday

Today's post is inspired by two beautifully executed sets courtesy of AutoErotique (Toronto) and SonicC (Miami) at U Street Music Hall last night. Turns out both of these guys are cool as shit and bring it heavy as fuck. I don't even have anything to say right now due to the massive pounding my brain took last night at the hands of these monsters, but here are some Bright & Shiny tunes for you on this fine Friday morning (yes, 2 PM counts as morning here on Bright & Shiny) to start your rage-filled weekend off right.

Alex Gopher -- Electro (France)

I was chilling with Augustus last night and he asked that I make you all an Alex Gopher post today. I thought it was a good idea so here it is. All of you erudite motherfuckers out there know about this man, but for those that aren't as well acquainted, you're in for a dirty little treat. I first heard Alex Gopher when the masterful 2 Many DJs dropped "Dust" in some set of theirs. This Frenchman churns out some of the grimiest electro around, but his productions always have a distinct element of funk to them. I don't know how to explain it but be sure to turn it up. This stuff will pull your terminal case of Dance Fever right out of its 10 year remission. You're welcome.

originals
Alex Gopher - Dust

Alex Gopher - Aurora (Original Mix)

Alex Gopher - Belmondo (Original Mix)

remixes
IAM - Ca Vient De La Rue (Alex Gopher Remix) [cowbell!]

Shinichi Osawa - Push (Alex Gopher Remix)

the Clubhaus
Now I know you all wake up everyday thinking about how much you miss the Clubhaus and that I've forgotten it entirely, but I haven't. The Clubhaus is alive and well; in fact, every single song on this post could qualify for Clubhaus status and receive an accompanying rage-grade, US visa. But this particular song stands out because it is stupid good. Alex Gopher and Dada Life should really consider some sort of permanent engagement because every time they work together crazy shit goes down.
Dada Life - Happy Hands & Happy Feet (Alex Gopher Remix)

P.S. Autoerotique at U Street tonight, 10 PM Doors ya heard?

Balance

It's all about balance boys and girls. Newton's third law of motion: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Why do you think the human body needs 12 hours of sleep for every 12 hours awake? Or better yet, why do all midgets marry really tall people? It's nature. You can't fight it. The universe revolves around balance. For that reason, I'm going to ebb and flow between heavy and soft, raging and mellow on this post. Hugging you with one song, only to punch you in the face with the next. Try to think of it like a multi-vitamin, or like an abusive father.

Question: can Dada Life do anything wrong? Answer: No.

Adrian Lux is a master of beautiful progressive house.

Boys Noize is the only human on the planet with a unibrow that I can take seriously.

Moby + Holy Ghost! = so nice

Erol Alkan & Boys Noize are always doing crazy, wonderful shit together. Throw Bobermann in the mix, and you just get straight lunacy. If you like this song, chances are you're probably either a robot or some sort of rave crazed monkey. (I love this song)

What the fuck kind of name is jovicii?

Autoerotique is coming to DC tommorow, and it's free if you sign up on facebook.
Don't be a clown. Go.

Classixx! Yes.

HOMEWORK
Today's homework section is really awesome. You know the rules, turn it up loud and get ready for a blitzkrieg of ragetastic noises.

Going Away

Since I'll be riding in a random shit filled car tomorrow for 14 hours as I go off to St. Louis, I've decided to leave you all with a going away gift a bit early. The songs I have today are especially delectable. Eat em up.

I'll start things off with a very well done remix from UNC whiz kid, Hidden Cat. This isn't any face-pounding banger or get-on-the-dance-floor jam, but it's oh so nice.
Dirty Projectors - Stillness in the Move (Hidden Cat Remix)

Don't know anything about these LOL Boys, but they did a damn good job with this. This remix of AC Slater's "Hello" sounds absolutely nothing like the original, but that doesn't mean it isn't amazing. Very low-key.
AC Slater - Hello (LOL Boys Sunday Sunrise Remix)

Coma Cat + Go Go Bizkitt. Enough said.
Tensnake - Coma Cat! (Go Go Bizkitt Remix)

This Grum beauty really gets going late in the track.
Grum - Want U

PUNCHES, a Brooklyn duo comprised of two twin brother DJ's, have been putting a fresh spin on that disco house sound recently, as you'll see with this remix. Lovin the vocal sample.
Au Revoir Simone - Only You Can Make You Happy (PUNCHES Remix)

Fantastic remix from Aeons.
Amy Meredith - Young at Heart (Aeons Remix) [REMOVED BY REQUEST]

This last one is by far and away my favorite. It's incredible. Fred Falke and Alan Braxe by themselves produce gold. Together, they can do no wrong.
Jamiroquai - Alright (Fred Falke and Alan Braxe Remix)

-PK

Because I can.

The Only - Top of the Jam (Autoerotique Remix)

Back To School. To prove to daddy I'm not a fool.

Hey guys, Patrick here. Let's get right down to bidness, OKAY?

This first track is pure gold. It's an original mix. I love originals. Seeing as it's a little progressive house-ish, it's gonna take a minute to get into it. But once it does.... !!!

Go Go Bizkitt puts out an absurd amount of music. I can't say I love it all, but overall, he does very well for himself. Funky disco vibes oozing all ova da place.

This next one is a little upbeat hiphop/rap tune by Cee-Lo Green. Never heard of'em, but I'm really digging this song. Especially the lyrics.

This is a remix of a song by a friend of mine, Flashworx...(on facebook at least haha). Synth lead heaven! Thank you Deluce Shogan.

French girls singing, FOR THE WIN.

Dublin Aunts is a french/filter/disco/house/funk duo that I stumbled upon on SoundCloud. Quality quality.

Interesting way of getting the lyrics out there (Fuck You):

LA Riots -- Los Angeles, CA (Fool's Gold)

Last night the rave rain fell in U Street Music Hall as Daniel LeDisko melted faces for three beautiful hours. I've loved LA Riots since they started out with their distinct electro sound but I had no idea they brought it so HARD these days. This man knows how to bring the heat and is under no circumstances to be trusted with your mother, sister or girlfriend. Highlights included Daniel, the lone LA Riot last night, dropping the AC Slater remix of Cooler Couleur with a big smile upon my request. Everything he played had everyone in the place jumping; there was not a moment during the entire set when sanity prevailed amongst the crowd. I have not raged that hard since UMF Miami, which means either I am a bitch or LeDisko on the decks is truly a thing to behold. The following songs are basically the only tracks that I can remember being played through the chaos.

Ciara - Ride ft. Ludacris (LA Riots Remix)

Steve Angello - Rave 'N' Roll

J.O.B ft. Anjulie (with MadV & 12th Planet)

I've played this shit on RockBand but I had no idea it would clean up on the dancefloor. Best set-closer I've heard in a minute.
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Laidback Luke, Lee Mortimer - Blau! (LA Riots Remix)

JFK, St. Mandrew - Face Pump (LA Riots Remix)

Oh, I almost forgot-- new KanYe West. The man goes off.
KanYe West - Power ft. Jay-Z & Swizz Beats

Riots

I'll keep this brief, cause I'm posting on the later side today, and I gotta get ready for LA Riots tonight.

Fresh Justin Faust original
Justin Faust - Witty

Disco-cut craziness from LBCK
LBCK - Disco Thrills

Smooth remix from Moullinex
Justin Faust - Holdin' On (Moullinex Remix)

Punks Jump Up gives "Moon Theory" a little bounce
Miami Horror - Moon Theory (Punks Jump Up Remix)

Believe it or not, I love my rap too. This one comes off of Big Boi's new album Sir Lucius Left Foot, and it's killer.
Big Boi - Daddy Fat Sax

Crazy fucking Soulwax video for their unreleased remix of Late of the Pier's "Best in Class". Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Did I mention that I'm seeing LA Riots tonight? Yeah.
Sound of Stereo - Zipper (LA Riots Remix)

N.A.S.A. ft. Method Man, E40, & DJ Swamp - N.A.S.A. Music (LA Riots Remix)

Going Big

Since I didn't include a homework section in my last post, which is where I would normally throw my daily selection of face-meltingly huge bangers, I've decided to dedicate today's entire post to arena-rocking-head-rapers (as they call them in japan). Buckle up because we're going big.

This first one is the newest Swedish House Mafia song. I can't even put into words how fucking huge this one is.

This next ones a dope Drake remix. It really takes off after the first minute or so.

Drake - Over (ROCK-IT! SCIENTISTS RMX) REMOVED BY REQUEST

The first time I heard this one was at Ultra when Crookers decided to break about 13 international laws by straight headfucking everyone in attendance. It is hard to put into words the destruction that followed them dropping this song.

I don't know anything about this song, but judging by their names, theses people are russians. Sweet.

I discovered Sticky K while watching this video.

Yeah, I'm going to school there next year. It's OK to be jealous.
Here, maybe these will cheer you up

Tom Staar always seems to have the nicest, deepest grooves. I really dig this next one for some reason.

I had many more songs I was planning on giving you, but it's 2pm and I want to go to the beach, so for now, this is all you get. Until next time.

Throwback Thursday: Part 1

Patrick here, bringing you my own rendition of Throwback Thursday. This is part one of a three part series. The following songs are all keystones of my music collection. They were there at the beginning of my infatuation with electronic music and they all heavily contributed to cementing my love of all things electro. Get your 5 star songs here.

This song is just a must have. No intro, just listen.

Not a big fan of the original song but one listen to this and you'll see why it belongs in this post.

The Twelves have been a source of inspiration for me for years. Guest appearance by Lil Wayne.

The Crystal Castles are simply amazing. This song was my anthem for about 3 months.

Danger! Look everyone it's Danger!

A wee bit repetitive, but simply stunning none the less. Woo DatA.

BONUS:

The gayest thing you ever enjoyed: (favorite part starts around 2:30)
