Halloween House

Here are some tracks to get weird to on this fine Halloween evening.  I've amassed some fat ass beats in the last month that need some sharin' with you, the fine people of the Bright & Shiny Nation.  Play all of these with loads of bass and lots of decibels.

BRISTOL
The fine people of Bristol, UK have been holding it down as of late, which should come as no surprise considering they're changing the face of dance music as we know it.  With a little bit of bass and a lot of love, these fine young men have been churning out the best beats in the business.

First up is Coat of Arms, composed of two B&S future-hall-of-famers: Dan Pearce AKA Eats Everything, and Chris James (who's actually from Birmingham, but who's counting?).

Waifs & Strays, also of Bristol, make bouncing tech house which is very characteristic of their fine city, but a little techier than most.

Eats Everything has been blowing up the BBC Radio 1 airwaves as of late with their support of his recent releases.  With support from Pete Tong, Jaymo & Andy George, as well as Annie Mac, you know this man's got some talent.  See if you can spot the sample in this one.

REST OF WORLD
Subb-an is another fine fellow from the UK.  Dunno anything about him really, because Augustus showed me this track last week and I've listened to it at least once daily since.  Funky ass deep ass trax.

Tim Green, also of the UK (surprise!) has been a favorite producer of mine since I heard his remix of "Live Those Days Tonight" last June, and this track channels the same bouncy, happy house vibes that made that one so special.

TEED is, how you say in American....? The man.  He's so prolific in so many styles with such consistency it makes my head spin.  This one's a little deeper than most his tracks, and I love it. Props to Crosstown Rebels on the excellent remix commission on this one.

Y'all better know about Azari & III by now.  They're bringing that analog, diva house sound back like its 1999.

Maceo Plex of Madrid, ES has got, in the words of Usher,  "the beats to make the booties go *CLAP*"  I dunno what it is about him, but women love to get down to his deep tracks.

Ready For The Weekend

It's thursday and that means the weekend is finally almost here, which we couldn't be more excited about. It's not just any weekend... it's HALLOWEEN WEEKEND and that means a lot of things, all of them wonderful. Most wonderful of all though, it means that the legendary HARD Haunted Mansion is back to downtown Los Angeles and this year's edition is looking better than ever. We'll obviously be there, and we'll be bringing you coverage the whole time. Check the bottom of this post for our Bright & Shiny approved list of artists you shouldn't miss if you're gonna be in attendance.

I've been sitting on this song for a long time and it's honestly one of my all time favorites, I'm actually  surprised I haven't given it to you guys sooner. Seriously everyone I play this to absolutely loves it. I have no idea who Adam G is or whether he's done anything aside from this remix, but I got this song from my main man petey bowles who deserves a shout out cause this song is literally incredible. It fits literally any situation, whether that's a bumping dancefloor well after midnight or a chilled out day by the pool... Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean... turn it up and soak it in

Mustard Pimp | Washington DC, October 27 2011

DC people, kick your Halloween weekend off right this Thursday by heading down to U Street Music Hall to catch Mustard Pimp and Codes from Slow Roast Records. Mustard Pimp have brought their party-rocking style of electro all the way from France to terrorize our nation's capital, and you'd be a fool to miss it if you're reading this from anywhere within a 200 mile radius. These guys know how to start a party like few others and their first full length album, "No Title Or Purpose" just dropped this week on Dim Mak and it's absolute fire (You can preview it at the bottom of this post). We got sent this AutoErotique remix of our favorite Australian twins, Nervo, in the mail a week or two ago and I must say, it's quite large. You guys already know how we feel about AutoErotique: they really pack a punch. Nervo, on the other hand, are bringing their dj skills around the globe presently and touring a number of the world's best clubs from Vegas to the UK. We saw them open for Chuckie a while back, and they're fully Bright & Shiny approved. These girls are as skilled behind the decks as they are beautiful (read: extremely), so make sure you get a chance to see them if they stop by your town. Weekend Roundup

Once again, the Miami-based dance collective GTA has managed to leave us completely speechless. This newest remix is probably one of the biggest and baddest tracks I've come across in a long time. A blistering mix of big-room house with some moombahton flavoring, this song has all the right ingredients to set any and all dancefloors on fire. Just listen to the way it goes from hands-in-the-air progressive house stabs to a slowed down, pulsing moombahton drop between the 3-4 minute mark. Simply put: bomb. Grab the release off of Laidback Luke's Mixmash record label on beatport.

My love affair with Brodinski started after I stumbled into his set at last year's HARD Haunted Mansion and found myself  blown away by his mental and ludicrously fun approach to techno (which you can read more about in our review). He's been responsible for numerous big productions over the past year, and his newest remix of Nero's Crush On You is no different. A thumping piece of piano electro-house, this one has the signature Brodinski dancefloor stomper edge to it. Support the full release on beatport here.

Coincidentally, one of my favorite media sites (not really sure how else to describe it), Konbini, has recently started a really awesome mini-documentary series entitled 'Heeere's Brodinski!' about, you guessed it, the life and times of Brodinski. Colorado's bangin' electro-dance outfit, Savoy, takes the 60's rock classic 'California Dreamin' by the Mommas and Poppas and turns it into a piece of dancefloor-ready gold here. Really catchy.
