In A Dream
download: Lifelike & Popular Computer - Getting High (Pyramid Remix)
Our friend Yooj (of Berlin by San Fran fame) has two big things going on right now that you need to know about. Firstly he gave away this super smooth track for free a couple weeks ago for anyone who likes his facebook page:
and secondly, his 'I Took You In' EP came out the other week on Not Bad Music - needless to say we're pretty excited about it. Each of the two original tracks are dark and sleazy in all the ways that make them perfect for a pulsing dancefloor sometime after 3AM, while the Ron Costa remix adds its own degree of techy flavor to the mix as well. Preview it below and grab the whole thing off Beatport.
To keep things going with the morning theme from earlier, this Paul Kalkbrenner track is another one I've been finding myself throwing on repeat whenever I want to wake up. Simple, raw elements mesh together to form a pulse of energy that constantly builds and crescendos over the 8 minutes of the track.
download: Paul Kalkbrenner - Altes Kamuffel (Original Mix)
Check it as the opening track in this rather awesome live documentary..
I saw Eric Prydz at the Palladium in LA last month (absolutely incredible) and it completely reawakened my love for the swede's banging style of progressive electro. This classic bootleg is definitely from the harder end of his discography..
download:Eric Prydz vs Pink Floyd - Proper Education (Original Mix)
Two equally monstrous remixes, one of Gesaffelstein and one by Gesaffelstein. Future Rave.
download: Zombie Zombie - Rocket Number 9 (Gesaffelstein Remix)
download: Gesaffelstein - Hatred (David Caretta Remix)
I recently came across this free Mosca EP and was really impressed by what the UK garage producer could accomplish within a more traditional house structure. Smooth, unadulterated rhythm with sweetly soulful influences.
download: Mosca - The Way We Were (Original Mix)

Back To The Beat That Repeats | Megapost
I've basically been tracking down all the most demented, Gesaffelstein-eque future techno that I can get my hands on recently, and one really intriguing artist I've come across in the process is Oblast. This release by them is diabolical and thumping in all the ways that make it entirely appropriate for a dark & lazer-filled room somewhere at 4AM. Check out the full 'ACT 1' EP on beatport: released by Mikix The Cat's Parisian-based ADD Cat imprint.
download: Oblast - Breakdown (Original Mix)
An epic 13 minute techno masterpiece here, straight from the brain of Detroit's resident mad scientist Carl Craig.
download: Cut Copy - Need You Now (Carl Craig Remix)
All you need to know: I grabbed this bad boy of a track from the Gesaffelstein mix above. Bass + Techno =
download: Bubba - We Need A Break (Original Mix)
Up next are two really good Scissor Sister remixes I've acquired recently, but I haven't been able to decide which one is better. Right now I'm leaning towards the Boys Noize effort, those super sharp synths that wash across the track at around 3:30 are Boys Noize at his electro-tech best.
download: Scissor Sisters - Invisible Light (Boys Noize Remix)
download: Scissor Sisters - Only The Horses (Brodinski Remix)
Off of that free Alex Metric EP that he released a month or two ago, this one is a track that I dig more and more every new time I hear it. 'Rave Weapon' collides elements of UK Bass with rapid fire 90s rave stabs and Metric's own impeccably clean production skills.. what more could you ask for?
download: Alex Metric - Rave Weapon (Original Mix)
download: Sound Pelligrino Thermal Team \ Tony Senghore - Bassface (Tony Senghore Remix)
GET DEEP AND FREAK
Hot Since 82 continues to make a name for himself as a deep house magician capable of crafting all sorts of weird late night shenanigan inducing soundwaves. This remix of Chris James is simply next level.
download: Chris James - Nothing Else Matters (Hot Since 82)
Amine Edge impresses us more and more with every new production. This one.. well.. KNOCKS.
download: Spf 5000 - Doorknocker (Amine Edge & DANCE Remix)
Beautiful and funkadelic at the same time, this John Johr dub is a straight up anthem.. I'm in love. From one of our favorite labels around, Culprit LA.
download: Lee Curtiss - Candy feat. Matt Tolfrey (John Johr Dub)
download: Miami Ice - The Way You (Original Mix)
Chris James (1/2 of Coat of Arms alongside Eats Everything) is a dude we've been watching develop for a while now, and this 'retwist' shows him really coming into his own as a producer. this track is an absolute BOMB, and all we can say is we can't wait to see what the dude cooks up next. Find Chris on facebook and beatport.
download: Markus Anthony - Distant Memory (Chris James Retwist)
Old School (think: +5 years old) driving and brooding Dubfire at the pinnacle of what makes his sound so addicting. The breakdown from 3:45-5:00 is pretty much guaranteed to bring the house down any time during any set anywhere in the world...
download: Unkle - Hold My Hand (Dubfire Remix)
One of my favorite tracks from this entire post. That lead synth/bass line is so simple yet incredibly effective at the same time.
download: Nobody Knows - Hundred Trys (Original Mix)
Ghetto Kraviz is a track we've been in love with for a while now. Along with Nina Kraviz. When Jamie Jones dropped this edit of her anthem at Ultra this year though, it was waaaay fatter than we ever could have imagined. On the right sound system (aka a really fucking loud one), the bass here is simply out of control. Go to right before the 4:00 minute mark to get a feel for where Jamie mixed in and how banging the bass was; the track really takes off from there.
download: Nina Kraviz - Ghetto Kraviz (Amine Edge Edit)
Another track where the bass gets more and more devastating the louder you play it, this one is some top notch deepness from one of my favorite labels Gruuv. The Audiojack remix is money as well, check the full release on Beatport.
download: S.K.A.M. - Rush Hour (Original Mix)
H.O.S.H. is another dude who I've gotten super into lately, pretty much everything his name is attached to is guaranteed to be D.O.P.E.
download: Adultnapper - Idiot Fair feat. Black Light Smoke (H.O.S.H. And The Deer Dub)
Bouncing tech house straight outa 2008. Booty Shake Weapon.
download: Worthy - Work The Walls (Magik Johnson's Shake The Walls Remix)
Bonus
These next two don't really fit into either of the two categories above, but are nonetheless quite fresh in their own right. 'Sex' is sleazy electrofunk at it's most chilled out, while the Wax Motif effort is just a bit of really solid electro.
download: Slugabed - Sex (Original Mix)
download: Chromeo - Night By Night (Wax Motif Remix)

Morning Update
Augustus and I present these 8am-inspired dance tunes to you from our hotel balcony. Miami is awful fun this time of year!
Federico Franchi - Cream (Original Mix 2007)
The Hacker - Shockwave (Gesaffelstein Remix)
THROWBACK ALERT... over a decade old (2001), the beautiful synths here really feel timeless, and in retrospect probably were way ahead of their time. Check out the Agoria RA podcast for the full mix we grabbed it from.
download: Metro Area - Atmosphrique
Only 9am and it's already 80s degrees here in Miami. Yeah, I think it's gonna be one of those poolside kind of days...
download: Jeremy Glenn - New Life (Perseus summer of '93 Remix)
In honor of the Prince Club/Jesse Rose/ Cats n Dogz party that got shut down by the po' last night for being too cray, we have a really smooth remix here by the Frenchie Coni. Loving the use of wood blocks... or whatever them percussion hits are.
download: Prince Club - Utopia (Coni Remix)

Weekend Selector: Take a Hit Get Clipped
download: Maceo Plex - Deez Nuts (Original Mix)
Get loose. Each release on leftroom seems to be bigger than the last. If you're gonna be in Miami next week, wednesday has a bunch of absolutely ridiculous parties (more on that in our official guide) but Culprit vs Leftroom is definitely one of our picks. The lineup ranges from bristol bass-ers Waifs & Strays to Lee Foss, Laura Jones, Droog, Inxec, Jozif, and the man behind this next track, Gavin Herlihy... Yeah, you could say "stacked."
download: Gavin Herlihy - Get Loose
Huxley is a dude I've really been getting into more and more recently. This track in particular is an all time effort from him full of swinging bass and classic piano stabs.
download: Huxley - Shower Scene
Kris Wadsworth with that bass that 'chu need.
Deetron taking a bit more of a techno approach here, but still sprinkles on his typical amount of swiss melodic magic like only he knows how. This one really takes off in the second half. Like, really takes off.
download: Simon Garcia - Train In Vain (Deetron's Slave To The Rave)
A massive Casino Times remix of the new Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs single.. pretty much a combination guaranteed to lead to amazingness, this one is deeper than a lot of TEED's stuff but manages to really hit the spot. Can't wait for the full release on April 2nd.
Not So Deep
If you're like me and have been playing the youtube version of this song countless times over the past couple days, this mp3 will come as a godsend.. Full 320 quality. If you're in Chicago tonight and looking for something a little (lot) higher energy than the deep shenanigans at Spybar be sure to check out Brodinski & Gesaffelstein at the Mid.
download: Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans (Gesaffelstein Remix)
Acid? Acid.
The name says it all. Rave like its 1992. Out now on Cheap Thrills.
download: Housesquare - Old Gem (Original Mix)
A bit older, this one came out earlier in the spring courtesy of the French teenage prodigy Madeon... sunshine vibes all the way through.
download: Madeon - Icarus (Extended Mix)
I have to say I'm not usually a fan of mashups at all, but our DC homeboy Sean Johnson sent over his classic rock vs progressive house mashup pack the other day and something about these tracks is really awesome. This Tristan Garner vs The Police's Roxanne is my personal favorite from the bunch, just a ton of energy and fun.. Head over to his facebook page to grab the other two bootlegs for free as well.
download: Tristan Garner vs The Police - Punxanne (Sean Johnson & Third Culture Bootleg)
An incredible remix package on Joakin's newest single... literally each one is so good I can't pick a favorite.
download: Laidback Luke, Arno Cost, Norman Doray - Trilogy (Swanky Tunes Remix)
download: Autoerotique - Bring That Beat Back (Tiesto Edit)
EROL VS ALEX (boys noize).
Can't wait for this next one to come out on Revealed recordings. No_ID are a group you should get familiar with, the dutch duo has been getting attention by everyone from Hardwell to Axwell recently..

The Flow
download: Disclosure - Flow (Original Mix)
mmmmmm so smooth
download: Klic - Bump
These next two are your big room treats for the day. First up we have socal based duo No Body releasing this free bootleg yesterday and as we've come to expect from them it's quite large, and it even features the classic Walking On A Dream vocals. The second track is a Laidback Luke effort that while I'm not crazy about the vocals from Wynter Gordon, the drop on it is simply too crazy for me not to share. Old School Luke.
download: Wolfgang Gartner - There And Back (No Body Remix)
download: Laidback Luke & Wynter Gordon - Speak Up (Original Mix)
Clouds' new Optic EP on Turbo Records is bonafide lunatic crazy. Just how we like it.
download: Clouds - Future Blaster (Original Mix)
An oldie but a goodie from Technolectro masters Shinichi Osawa and Paul Chambers. For some reason this one never got released outside Japan.
download: Shinichi Osawa & Paul Chambers - Singapore Madness (Original Mix)
The road to Miami continues.
download: Induce - Livin' In The Future (Lazaro Casanova Miami Vice Mix)

All Night
Boston Bun goes in on this remix for Maelstrom's new EP on French label Sound Pellegrino. The laziness of the synths contrasted with the track's persistent high-end make for a feeling something like futuristic sushi. Check out the rest of the release on beatport 'cause it's damn near bulletproof. Bright & Shiny favorites include the Hacker remix of "uSSR" and Coni's tech house interpretation of "House Music".
Maelstrom - House Music (Boston Bun Remix)
This next one from the duo of Polish Berliners known as Catz 'N Dogz is a Class-A Party Starter. Warped synths ascend as the track grabs your attention, a faint R&B refrain provides added sexiness, and then, all at once, the track is plunged into the low-end: this is where you dance. Check beatport for the just-as-good B-side (a veritable master-class in current bass music), or watch the hysterically cute video below.
Catz 'N Dogz - Professor Nice Love
To get the crazy flowing, we turn to Brodinski. This is the kind of Boys Noize-esque electro/techno us circa-2006 bloghaus heads fiend for. Simple, effective, infectious, this song hammers out the groove-- perfect for the club or a festival setting. For all our Chicago readers, French masters Brodinski & Gessafelstein will be playing The Mid, March 16th, alongside the legendary Treasure Fingers. Get tickets/info here, and be sure to keep an eye on the blog for a chance to win free tickets to the show next week.
Yuksek - Off The Wall (Brodinski Remix)
Closing out is a track I stumbled upon courtesy of the great Maya Jane Coles. This remix from Paraguayan outfit Wowogueros is an absolute monster. When Ms. Coles drops it on the unsuspecting peoples of Miami, you can see this results: the searing bassline rattles eardrums, the repeated "YEAH"s stirs the crowd into a frenzy; the whole club goes gorillas. Watch below.

Big Fun
download: Kevin Saunderson ft. Inner City - Big Fun (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)
Ken Loi's recent self-titled Ken Loi EP is pretty big. Actually, that's an understatement - it's absolutely gigantic. Each one of the tracks is somewhere between big room progressive house and off-the-walls electro, and that somewhere ends up being a seriously lethal dancefloor concoction. Expect to hear these next two all over Miami this year and be sure to grab the whole EP off of beatport.
download: Ken Loi - Cutoff (Original Mix)
download: Ken Loi - Hands Up (Original Mix)
Robbie Rivera going all sorts of crazy with this remix. Dude's been in the game for like 20 years and is still totally on point..
download: 68 Beats - Noise (Robbie Rivera Juicy Remix Part I)
Smooth, beachy vibes AND (presumably blonde) Russian girlfriends? I'm pretty sure Perseus has locked down the ultimate combination here..
download: Perseus - Russian Girlfriends (Original Mix)
More beachy deliciousness, this time from Bright & Shiny all star Bit Funk.
download: Boys Get Hurt - Can't Wait (Bit Funk Remix)
Face-melting builds and bouncing acid-inspired electro. I'm pretty sure this one has festival monster written all over it. Release from the homies over at GND records.
download: Decalicious - High Gloss (Jagerverb Remix)
Some Gesaffelstein is always the basis of a proper breakfast.
download: Gesaffelstein - Selected Faces (Original Mix)
Rave stabs and deep bass. Swanky Vibes. We already posted a track from this EP for free the other day, so if you like what you hear go buy this one off Beatport.

Stick to Your Name, Stick to The Game

If you can successfully sample Express Yourself by N.W.A. and put it on a house beat, you have my vote. The three man group composed of England's Corey Baker and Scott Dickie and U.S.'s Stuart Sandeman has received praise from the likes of Wolf + Lamb and Crosstown Rebles over the last year for their work. The Wildkats throw it down on this one and keep it smooth.
Wildkats – Perpetrating
Joris Voorn takes Moby’s original, ‘After’, and lightens up the mood a bit. He takes a much more club and dance friendly approach, adding a rolling bassline and an energetic rhythm. Piano stabs are always good too. Honestly I hear little in common between this and the original, but I am not one to question, just to listen. Grab this one on beatport here, it was just released yesterday.
Joris Voorn, Moby – After the After [Stream Only]
Ali Love recently teamed up with Luca C to form Infinity Ink. This song, recently released on super-label Hot Creations, has garnered notable attention, being featured on multiple DJ charts and mixes. Ali’s vocals always seem to do the trick (see ‘Do It Again’ by the Chemical Brothers and ‘Forward Motion’ by Hot Natured) and the groove he and Luca C developed is unstoppable. Show the two some love and buy it on beatport.
Infinity Ink – Games
Nathaniel X is here to bring house music back on the map, so he proclaims at the beginning of his 2010 Resurrxion E.P. He calls out all the digital mp3 DJs calling them mp3js instead, while promoting his immortal vinyl. Real talk. “Easy listenin underground, deep jazz chords, and a smooth bassline with a danceable rhythm.” What more could you possibly ask for?
Nathaniel X – My Love is Underground (RIP 160kbps)
Bonus:
Alex Kenji – Something About You
Bingo Players vs. Chocolate Puma – Touch Me
I’ll leave you with this absolutely stellar mix by B&S homeboys Brodinski and Gesaffelstein. My first take on this was that it was uncharacteristically mellow. Not to say this doesn’t go hard, maybe they’ve just pushed the limits of my musical tastes that far, but they manage to mix through so many different sounds so well that it blurs some genre boundaries. I really hope these two keep collaborating. Shout out to my friend Ben for showing me this. Partial track list can be found here.
BRODINSKI & GESAFFELSTEIN - DJ Set @ Laura Leishman Project sur Le Mouv' by llplemouv
More Gesaffelstein! When I’m old and going crazy I’ll have to blame him for at least half of my mental problems. Listening to this guy’s techno as a young adult has got to have an effect on my long-term health. Anyways, enjoy…

In Case You Missed It
Been waiting for this one to get released in full quality for a while now, and thankfully it's finally here. This remix is typical Gesaffelstein: brash, strange, and simply bangin'. (it's also lightyears better than the Duck Sauce original).
Download: Duck Sauce - Big Bad Wolf (Gesaffelstein Remix)
More Gesaffelstein for your ears. Some Halloween music if I've ever heard any. Off his recent Variations EP released on Turbo Recordings.
Download: Gesaffelstein - A Lost Era (Original Mix)
Congorock comes back with his signature blaring festival sound on this remix.
Download: Havana Brown - We Run The Night (Congorock Remix)
Dillon Francis' new IDGAFOS Ep is a perfect example of the sound that's made him so popular recently: varying between sweet, catchy melodies and pounding dance-inducing bass. Awesome.
Download: Dillon Francis - I.D.G.A.F.O.S. (Original Mix)
This little video is a lot of fun if you haven't already seen it:
We got sent this AutoErotique remix of our favorite Australian twins, Nervo, in the mail a week or two ago and I must say, it's quite large. You guys already know how we feel about AutoErotique: they really pack a punch. Nervo, on the other hand, are bringing their dj skills around the globe presently and touring a number of the world's best clubs from Vegas to the UK. We saw them open for Chuckie a while back, and they're fully Bright & Shiny approved. These girls are as skilled behind the decks as they are beautiful (read: extremely), so make sure you get a chance to see them if they stop by your town. Head HERE to check out their tour dates and see if they're playing near you.
Download: Nervo - We're All No One (AutoErotique Remix)
Speaking of Chuckie, our favorite party starter from the Netherlands has taken Calvin Harris' latest single and given it a big room makeover . Not so heavy on the bonkers dirty dutch influence here, but still plenty to love. Is this a sign of a new direction for Chuckie?
Download: Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris - We Found Love (Chuckie Extended Mix)
This is the first truly great remix of Afrojack & Steve Aoki's summer hit No Beef that I've come across. I'm not too sure who Panic City or Supersede are but based on this, expect to hear more from them.
Download: Steve Aoki & Afrojack ft. Miss Palmer - No Beef (Panic City & Supersede Remix)
Anyone catch the Danny Daze sample in there?
Download: Groove Armada - RJ's Theme (Original Mix)
Sidney Samson at it again with another massive dutch-infused anthem.

it's not you, it's me
We need to talk. There's something I need to tell you. I've been meaning to say this for a long time, but I don't really know how to put it. You see-- God, this is so hard for me. I never thought it would come to this. Well, here goes nothing... I love deep house.
Here are some tracks we here at Bright & Shiny have been loving and thumping all month long.
