Move On Up

All of us here at Bright & Shiny have absolutely loved Neon Indian and his first release, Psychic Chasms, since it emerged as champion of the lo-fi movement in the Spring of 2009. Now Alan Palomo is back with a new track, and hopefully an LP to follow.
Neon Indian - Sleep Paralysist

Back in the '08 this shit was my jam. Little did I know I was listening to a 128kbps set rip as I cruised around in my '95 Ford Explorer. Now I have for you the full quality release, as JFK has decided to make it available for free download on his soundcloud because he can't legally sell the track.
Usher - Love In This Club (Mstrkrft Remix)

After a long wait, the much-anticipated collaboration between the legendary producer Fred Falke and British minor-leaguer Burns has been released. As expected, it is, by all accounts, fucking bomb. This disco-house chune is a Grade-A track if I've ever heard one.
Fred Falke, Burns - Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me)

THE CLUBHAUS

BNR wunderkind Djedjotronic gets clever on us with this bootleg, mashing Soulwax set-staple "Frequency" into the drop of Avicii's Dumb Dumb Remix of "Boogers," making himself a nice little club monster. Raw electro and deep vibes all in one place: it doesn't get much better than this.
Altern8 - Frequency (Djedjotronic Bootleg)

Somewhere over the last month I started loving tech house. Call in a conservative reaction to the absurdist electro I've been inundating my brain with, but I just can't get enough of this deep shit. This remix from Christian Smith gets my blood flowing and sets my foot tapping.

Think Big Picture: Mega Post

I'm about to drop some serious gold all over the place, FO' FREE. No lie, this post is everything you've ever wanted, plus a picture of a badass woman in a pink onesy doin' her thang. These tracks deserve intro's, but they don't need them because their quality is evident (plus I'm busy with workworkwork).

Diplo - Must Be A Devil [Diplo] ==> shout out to Austin Monroe and Kim Dunn for this gem

Royksopp - This Space [Royksopp] ==> This song takes you on a JOURNEY

This music video for Feel It All Around by Washed Out has no smoke and mirrors, it's just brilliantly shot and extremely well done.

I'm not really sure what is happening here, but it's AWESOME.

I'll never stop loving you, Patrick

Remixes Galore!

Listen up chilluns. I want to let you in on a little secret about the universe. Remixes are always better. If you think otherwise, it's probably because you're a fucking clown. Now stop asking questions and steal the music posted below, because it's awesome.

The first time I heard this song was in the middle of an epic set by Tiesto on Ibiza. Let me tell you, this shit absolutely rocked the place. People - myself included - went completely mental when this song came on. Be patient and let it build up through the first minute or so.

I hate Katy Perry. That said, this HYPERCRUSH remix of California Gurls is absolutely 100% certified bomb. Like, nuclear-grade-bomb.

I don't really know much about Dem Slackers, but what I do know is that this next song is extremely Bright & Shiny and that you need to listen to it as soon as possible.

Major Lazer has always had a really cool reggae-feel to their electro songs, but I never thought they made it completely coherent enough to fully work. With that said, they definitely got it right on this Gyptian remix; the Reggae singing on top of the muted synth bloops adds up to a nice chill house song.

Ferry Corsten + System F team up for a badass remix of Lady Gaga's Alejandro.

This remix of a classic Fake Blood track is the funkiest and grooviest thing you will hear all day. It builds up through the first minute but after that it's straight funktastic Bright & Shiny house.

Shinichi Osawa is real cool. This Mustard Pimp remix is straight electro fire. That's pretty much all you need to know.

Dada Life has been doing great remixes for a while now. They're at it again with this reworking of Alex Gopher's Handguns.

MSTRKRFT and Metric hail from more or less two different ends of the electronic music spectrum. They find common ground on this awesome remix.

A-Trak's remixes are always sweet. This groovey synth banger is no different.

This Alex Metric reworking of a Beastie Boys classic is one that you don't want to miss.

HOMEWORK
If you haven't already noticed, I finish all my posts with a homework session. The point of these sessions is that I lower your defenses with a post chock full of wonderful music, and then proceed to floor you with some serious shit at the end, if you can handle it, with the intentions of broadening your musical horizons. This week's homework assignment is no different. The first place I heard these next two songs was in Space Ibiza during a pulsing, grinding, absolutely mind-blowing set by the legendary 2ManyDjs. Hope you can handle it.

Blatta & Inesha - Pet Massage (Elektropusher Remix)

Dada Life - Let's Get Bleeped Tonight (Don Rimini's Still Skill Kill Remix)

Oh and if you haven't already, meet 2ManyDjs;

p.s all of today's tracks are meant to be played on a quality sound system (car?) or headphones, listening to them on a pc or laptop is highly UNrecommended. Do yourself a favor.

Late Night Jams

I'll keep it short and simple. This is late night music. You know, the type of stuff you want to be listening to in a parked car somewhere at 3 in the morning, or on the drive home from a ragetastic shenanigan-filled night. Soak it up.

The name says it all for this first one.

This next song is an absolute classic. If you don't already have it, shame on you (but download it and start loving it as soon as possible).

While everyone knows that Deadmau5 songs like Strobe and I Remember make for great late night listening, most people aren't familiar with the progressive house goodness of his deeper cuts, like these next two. (Warning - play as loud and with as much bass as possible)

Although this next track doesn't quite fit in with the bass-pumping tunes I've been giving you, it's one of my favorites and definitely deserves to be on any legit late night playlist.

This one is a little low key, but nonetheless a good late night progressive house tune.

This song takes a minute or so to build up.. but once it does, it's straight BOMB

Late Night Alumni are great.

When Kaskade and Deadmau5 team up, you know you're in for some seriously progressive and deep late night tunage. While this one doesn't live up to the epicness of I Remember, it's still a great track. Give it a minute or two to build up.

HOMEWORK
Now for some bonus homework from the Bright & Shiny School of Music, this next track is the absolute opposite of a late night jam. It's a bonafide club-destroying banger of a song. Mixed by JFK from MSTRKRFT, this is a song that you should listen to at your own caution, as it has been known to cause face melting and spastic body movement amongst other physical symptoms. If you do choose to attempt this homework assignment, the only requirement is that you play it as loud as your speakers will allow.
