Fred Falke completely slays this remix, as usual from the genius Frenchman. When Mattie Safers' vocals come in around 1:15 they drop as the perfect counterpoint to Uffie's singing, this song is literally so funky and amazing it's stupid. Grab it now for endless amounts of dancing.

Gregori Klosman has been one of our favorite young producers out of the Netherlands for a while now. His dutch flavored style of tech house is as unique as it is powerful, and his newest track Low Battery might be his greatest accomplishment yet. The track veers all over the place in completely insane fashion, swerving from pounding tech beats to a progressive house buildup and back into dutch style lunacy all in a 6 minutes so packed with energy it's absurd. Shit Robot is a group I've been curious about for a while now. For the longest time I wasn't familiar with any of their music, but they're signed to DFA, James Murphy's super-label (home to acts like LCD Soundsystem and Holy Ghost!), so I figured they must have some serious talent, especially since they've managed to get away with a name as terrible as Shit Robot for this long. It turns out, they're really awesome. The track I have for you today by them features awesome vocals from Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem, The Juan Maclean) and a synth line from heaven that combine to make what can only be described as pure disco gold.

I originally found this song from this video I was watching of a Harvard Bass dj set. In case you're too lazy to watch it, when the track drops the crowd goes absolutely mental. Actually, they were going mental before this track dropped but that's only because Harvard Bass is a total G. Anyway, the bass on this is so dirty its goddamn retarded.

I know we tend to stay away from the Trance, but these next two are completely incredible despite their somewhat trancey styles. The first track, Hi Scandinavia by Matisse and Sadko feels like it was made specifically to be blasted as loud as humanly possible. I suggest you do it. Second up, Superman by Mat Zo is more on the trance side but it's equally as amazing and worth grabbing.

Finally, to close things out I bring you R3hab's remix of Lady Gaga's newest single Judah. I hate Lady Gaga, so the fact that I'm posting this at all should be an indicator of how completely off the rocker this track is.. R3hab goes to an unprecedentedly huge level here, throwing in some spacious progressive house sections to balance out a completely insane dutch house drop. (Shouts out to Brento for showing me this)

Those Modeselektor fellows are such cheeky German fucks. Every time I turn around there's a song I fall in love with, only to find out it's made by those crafty bastards. This shit is so hot you could drop it on Laura Bush's face and she'd graciously thank you.

Boys Noize brings us another huge track. The vocal track really freaks me out but the electro is just so soothing for the bones. I dunno what to say about this guy anymore except that he's the future and may very well be some combination of robot and alien. Alright so somebody had better give be shit for this, cause I'm about to post my first ever trance song on Bright Shiny Music. However, I do have good reason, 1)I can't get the vocals out of my head, I've been singing them all day and 2) please refer to the ABSURDLY LOUD NOISES which emit from your speakers at 3:56. I can only imagine this track coming out of a huge sound system, the bass pulsing through you. Not to mention everyone going completely fucking batshit for this track, it's fantastic. Swanky Tunes have been churning out the massive festival tracks with such regularity I'm starting to think they're gunning for the Swedish House throne. Although, "Feedback" sounds suspiciously like Daft Punk's "Rollin' and Scratchin'" (and this sounds too much like this), I'm gonna let it slide considering the track absolutely killed when Joachim Garraud dropped it at Ultra in the world-renowned Root Society Dome. Similarly, when Fedde Le Grand dropped "Oh Yeah" in the Carl Cox Tent it was a serious problem... every single person in attendance soiled themselves uncontrollably. Let that be a lesson to you: never rave without a diaper.

I've got a smattering of incredible tunes for you guys today, from oldies that I stumbled upon recently to brand-spankin-new bangers, all selected with the intentions of preparing you for the thursday through monday rage session known as the "weekend" that's coming up soon, so buckle up and enjoy.

Up first we have Steve Angello's edit of The Moment, a track that many people consider one of the biggest anthems of Miami 2011, since it was played by everyone from Tiesto to Swedish House Mafia. It dropped on Size Records not to long ago, and was Tim Mason's first official release.. if this track is any indication, he has a HUGE future ahead of him. Also be sure to check out this interview with Mason himself by our friends over at the Dancing Astronaut.

I was never really the biggest Tocadisco fan, but this song came on the speakers when my ipod was on shuffle the other day and I had to scramble across the room to check what it was because the track was so good. It comes off of his 2009 album TOCA 128.0 FM. Not necessarily new, but definitely really awesome.

Another oldie but goodie, this track has got virtually everything you would want from an epic progressive house bomb.. a beautiful opening part, gorgeous woman's vocals, and finally an absolutely massive crescendo of energy at the end. One of my new favorite (old) tracks.

Although I have to admit by the end of 2010 I was getting a bit tired of hearing Babylon by Congorock in virtually every dj set anywhere, NT89 recently released their remix for free and it's completely given the track new life. This one might be even bigger than the original.. completely nuts..

Mega Post - Spring Break Survival kit

I won't waste your time with a lot of words. I'm on spring break and I'm stoked. There's been a crazy amount of good music coming out recently, and every one of these songs is absolutely dirty. You're welcome.

We'll start things out at a bit of a slower pace here. This Kaskade remix of J Boogie's Dub Science  doesn't sound like the typical big room progressive Kaskade you're probably used to hearing. It's more like a hearkening back to his roots with the San Francisco based lounge-house label Om Records, where he used to make some seriously chilled out tunes. This sexy downtempo effort is reminiscent of that older stuff, except for it's more refined and shows hes clearly still growing as an artist almost 15 years later. Bump this one drinking mojitos poolside.
J Boogie's Dub Science - Raining (Kaskade Remix)


Sticky K's long awaited Prince of Persia EP came out on itunes the other day, with the full release on beatport set for march 22nd, and it's absolutely MASSIVE. This sounds like what would be played at some futuristic desert rave outside the pyramids in egypt or something. Check out the 192 below, but be sure to grab the high quality on Itunes now or beatport next week. I just stumbled across this progressive BOMB by 24 year old Norwegian Funkin Matt today and its a huge high energy beast that's been featured in sets by everyone from Laidback Luke to Bart B More recently. Be sure to grab the release on matt's own label Fjordin. Don't miss out on this one.

Off of the Miami Noize 2 compilation, which came out earlier this month on Boys Noize Records, this Strip Steve original is a maddeningly catchy house stomper. The song is centered around an awesome jumbled up synth/piano-stab melody that pulses along with an upbeat, relentless sense of purpose (i.e. makes you want to dance). Be sure to grab the Miami Noize compilation off beatport, as it's stacked from top to bottom with some really quality tracks.

The new Dillon Francis Westside EP, out now on Mad Decent, is completely outrageous. It features a blend of tribal-sounding dancehall music that sounds reminiscent of Portugal's J-Wow in a lot of ways and demonstrates that Francis is definitely one of the most talented young artists emerging on the scene right now. Check out two of the tracks below, but be sure to grab the whole EP since it's full of a bunch of other awesome tracks including a good moombahton collaboration with DC's own Dave Nada.

This comes off of Brodinski's Best of Everything vol 2 unofficial compilation, which was a project where he asked his various favorite producers to remix random rap/r&b songs. Djedjotronic completely kills it here, twisting this Young Money track around and making it into a crazily funky and futuristic hip-hop jam.

Steve Aoki really impresses on this new Klaxons remix, showing that he's equally adept at making beautiful melody-driven house as he is at pumping out crazy party anthems or running his label Dim Mak. Speaking of which, if you're in Miami during Ultra be sure to check out the Dim Mak afterparty on friday, the lineup is stacked, we'll definitely be making an appearance.

This new rework by Erol Alkan is completely gorgeous and shows why he's considered one of the most respected producers in the game, cause this is hardly the average hard-hitting house he's normally affiliated with. This and the MGMT rework he did a while ago are two of my favorite pieces by him, maybe this is signalling a new, more acoustic direction for him? Either way, this one is awesome.

I've been on somewhat of a tech/deep house binge recently, probably a natural response to all the maximal electro-house craziness I've been bombarding my ears with over the past couple of months, so I'll start things off today with some jams you'd find in the corresponding aisle of your local supermarket.

Coming off of BNR's sub-label Trax, Strip Steve and Das Glow combine to release the flawless techno bomb that is "Calcium". Simple? Yes. Destructive? Absolutely. Do yourself (and the artists) a favor and purchase the track along with the rest of the EP hurr.

It's tracks like this that got me into this tech-house phase in the first place. The second drop gets you moving like none other. Classic sweetness from one of our favorites, Bingo Players.

Today's post is truly a post of epic proportions. Each week I go searching for music, I scour the internet with you guys in mind. Obviously I'm looking for good music to fill my own ears, but I'm always considering what tracks I will be passing on to the readers. Today you will all be getting the royal treatment of songs. From high flying synths, to funktastic bass lines, to prog. house heavy hitters, this one will no doubt be a complete playlist in and of itself. Happy Thursday guys.

First up today is a remix of a Treasure Fingers track by a relatively unknown Italian man by the name of Gabriell. According to his facebook, he is a fashion designer as well as a musician. Just based on what Treasure Fingers has to say about this awesome remix, I think you can all conclude that it's great pre-listening. "Nice work man! Shazam is truly a wizard with the music making. He really pumps up the funk quotient of this track, masterfully complementing the super cool Mobroder/Amanda Blank vocals.

Disco funk group Small Pyramids here, bringing you a sly killer of a tune. Complete with chopped vocals and a beat that could give a grandmother smooth swagger.

This one is for all you progressive house fans out there. Here we have Steve Angello (1/3 of Swedish House Mafia) and AN21 (Angello's younger bro) + Max Vangeli. This remix really strips bare an otherwise complicated Pendulum track. An epic build leading to the repetition of the main hook of the song really gets the job done. Be sure to bump this one at 3:02 mark.

Tesla Boy has released consistently good remixes for your listening pleasure. This particular one was brought to my attention thanks to my friend Matt Hickerson. The track takes a light hearted approach to a great Anoraak song, really giving it a nice disco sheen.

Before today, I had never come across Villains in my travels. Luckily, this Los Angeles group caught my attention with their rendition of Thriller. They took some key elements of the song, then flipped it on its head. Chopped vocals and a grimey bass synth make this tune one for the dance floor.

The Twelves are definitely one of my favorite duos. Straight from South America, these boys churn gold out of lead. Alchemists indeed. Without further ado, the bass line of all bass lines.

Yes It Is

We posted Uffie's single "Difficult" a while back, and since then I've encountered some quality remixes that deserve to be shared with you all. Mysterious and Canadian duo Azari & III are responsible for the first, drifting from their usual 90's classic house vibe with some upbeat, bouncy synths and percussion. Next one is from Uffie's labelmate, SebastiAn, who brings the that heavily distorted grungy sound he's become notorious for. (here's the download link for the original)

Next, we have a track from Australian house producer Kraymer. It starts off innocently enough, some catchy vocal chops and a pretty house feel, but then launches unexpectedly into a grimy-ass bassline that you best be prepared for.

I'll always have a soft spot for filter house, especially if guys like Leonardus keep cranking out tunes like this. The production is typical of the Dutchman and'll be sure to get you moving through the rest of your Tuesday.

Alright, now we'll move onto the heavier stuff, beginning with none other than Steve Angello, whose remixes and originals are pretty much synonymous with "massive". This edit of "Where You Are" is of course, no exception, building steadily into a huge, ravey drop right before the 3:00 minute mark. And it only gets better from there. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

I'm just becoming familiar with Max Bett, a rising tech-house producer out of Russia with skills beyond his years. His minimalistic synth melodies and addictive tribal percussion combine to create a seriously trance-inducing sound, as evidenced by this original.

Mondays Are For Monster Mash

Mondays... back from the untamed wilderness of the weekend to the responsibilities and commitments of real life. Or at least that's what it seems like... However, after years of research and clinical trials, I've discovered a fool-proof method for making sure that, as Soulwax says, "part of the weekend never dies". This method consists of finding the biggest and baddest tracks around, and then proceeding to assault your eardrums with them at the loudest possible volume. If employed correctly, the result should be somewhere between a decent boost and the inability to stop moving your body like you're caught in some sort of tribalistic dance circle.


This first song has been dropped recently by big names like Crookers and Felix Cartel, and it looks as if it's about to be one of the biggest songs of the fall. Antidote is a gem straight out of sweden with a drum pattern strobey enough to send an epileptic into a seizure.

Magnetic Man have been making a lot of noise with their recent self-titled LP. Up first we have a Steve Angello Remix that's absolutely massive... the buildup takes about two minutes, but the drop is well worth it. Angello seems to have a knack for putting together the most epic synth lines known to man. The second is a Bright & Shiny approved track off of Magnetic Man's new album that comes at the request of one of our loyal fans Stephanie.

Nocturnal

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the Nocturnal Festival in the southern California desert. Here's a breakdown of some of my favorite acts, as well as some of the sick bangers that crushed and captivated the  ~60,000 ravers in attendance.

Dada Life
Dada Life completely stole the show. I've been an avid fan of the Dada sound for a long time now, but I'd never been fortunate enough to see them live. The crazy Swedes traversed between some of their oldest and newest productions to sew together a powerful, raw, and simply dada-licious set. It was truly something to behold.
Highlight: towards the end of their set, they whipped the crowd into a frenzy with a relentlessly long build up, only to start throwing massive inflatable bananas and champagne bottles (you can see one in the middle of the picture above) into the crowd at the drop of their epic remix of Benny Bennassi's Satisfaction. I haven't seen a crowd go bonkers like that in a long time.

They premiered their brand new remix of Hello by Martin Solveig and Dragonette, which could very well be the best Dada Life song to date. Props to Dj Roof-E for tipping me off ahead of time that they were gonna do it. One of the three members of the house uber-group Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello has been a Bright & Shiny favorite for quite some time now. His productions are in a league of their own with their flawless precision and monster electro sound, so I knew that I was in for a treat when he took over the decks on Saturday. His 2 hour set was marked by a superb mix of Swedish House Mafia mega-hits and underground electro bangers.

Highlight: for me personally, the highlight was meeting him briefly after his set since he's one of my idols. But from a musical standpoint, I'd have to say that the highlight was the last song of the set, the classic Show Me Love. This is a song that no matter how many times I hear it, it always seems to get to me, because in many ways it's one of the underlying inspirations for this blog. Show Me Love became our unofficial anthem for Ultra 2010, which was an experience that sent me, Sir Real, and Patrick down our path to electro-house addiction, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Angello was fantastic.

The Bingo Players' unique take on dutch house has intrigued me ever since I first heard one of their tracks. While they still embody the typical Dutch sound, they stray from the stylings of their contemporaries such as Chuckie and Afrojack by stripping down the Dirty Dutch formula until it's left with the bare essentials. The result is a totally unique sonic experience that's both highly danceable and borderline hypnotic. Go see these dudes if you ever get the chance.


Highlight: the song Devotion. I can't even explain how wonderful this song sounds when it's pulsing out of 30-foot-tall speakers. Tribal and gorgeous.
