Underground Sound
If you guys didn't eat your wheaties this morning, maybe you had some Cocaine and Ketamine instead? I hear either one counts as nourishment in Miami... In all seriousness (listen to the song and you'll understand), I'm excited to introduce you to the anthem for every basement in Miami this year. Everything In Between
When Ed Banger's SebastiAn puts out a new track or remix, for me it's always a question of which SebastiAn is going to show up. Good SebastiAn (like Embody), or bad painfully-overdistorted SebastiAn (like on pretty much his entire album). Luckily here we have a perfect example of good SebastiAn. A friend of mine best summed it up to me recently when he said "it's almost like this is what Justice was trying to do on their most recent album...and failed miserably at". Either way, this song rocks.

One of my first memories of falling in love with a piece of music was on a road trip at summer camp when I was maybe 12 or 13, and the older counselers who were driving us played the same Talking Heads CD in the van over and over, and in particular the song "This Must Be The Place" and by a couple hours in everyone was belting all the words to the song at the top of their lungs. That little antidote is only relevant cause that awesome song gets an awesome remix effect here, with Anna Lunoe turning it into a nice little bit of sun splashed house.

I have to be honest, I'm very excited to bring today's post to you guys. All of these songs from top to bottom are thoroughly awesome, and even better they come from all across the electronic spectrum. From more big room stuff to bassier deep house jams, we got 'em all. Come and enjoy.

Slap In The Bass is a name everyone should expect to start hearing more about from now on. After I first heard their remix on Crooker's Dr. Gonzo project, I knew these kids were something special. But it wasn't until I recently found this absolute stomper by them named Egypt that I was really blown away. The drop on it is just genius. Bass music at it's best. It's so simple, but so ridiculously large. This one absolutely kills when rattling out of a proper sound system. Grab it below and learn more about Slap In The Bass on their facebook page. Every song that I stumble across with vocals by the swedish girls Rebecca & Fiona ends up being absolutely incredible it seems like. Adrian Lux and Nause give this older track by them, Bullets, an amazing progressive house makeover. The big room stabs matched with the girls' vocals seriously make this one of the most catchy and re-playable house songs I've come across in a while. Straight up brilliant. We brought you guys the preview of Noob's newest EP a couple of weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure the only commentary we could muster about it was "WOW, NOOB." and I still stand by that. Noob's new EP 'Spell' is absolutely stunning, and comes seemingly completely out of the blue. We knew the frenchman was a talented producer from his various mental off the wall techno cuts, but this is his first adventure into more melodic classic house (at least that I'm aware of). And he absolutely smashes it. The production on this is so clean and gorgeous, it almost reminds me of something that Bright & Shiny hall of famer Lone might cook up. The B side to the EP, 'Protein' is equally as quality, though more on the crazy electro side of things. A1 Bassline's newest self entitled Ep, also released recently on dirtybird, is just wonderful. Actually somewhat reminiscent of Noob's Spell, this one features a gorgeous classic house feel and warm analog synths layered over creative and inviting percussion. The songs on this EP have made it into sets by heavy hitters like J.Phlip recently, and after one listen I'm sure you'll be able to tell why. Top notch stuff. Full release here on Beatport.

Finally to round things out I have another massive festival anthem, this time from Swedish main man John Dahlback. The vocals on this by Sneaky Sound System, are, I'll admit, almost a little too girly for me. Key word: Almost, because Dahlback makes everything else around them so absolutely amazing that it doesn't really matter how the vocals are. This track is so melodic and awesome that I guarantee if you give it one listen you'll find yourself putting it on repeat for a while... I know I have

Droppin' Bombs

 Alright so we've been slacking a bit recently (only 11 posts in the first 21 days of february, yikes!), but fear not because we've got big things in store for this spring and this summer that we've been working on. Among some things we've got coming up are an interview with Sticky K and the resurrection of our weekly Saturday Essential mixes, except the mixes will be coming with a twist. Instead of just having one DJ do the mixes every week, we've decided that we're going to start using the weekly mix as a way to showcase talented DJs from around the world (DJs if this is something you're interested in, send us a demo mix or shoot us an email). Another thing we have coming up is later this spring we're going to start throwing events in southern California, and this summer we plan on doing a weekly club night with big name djs on the east coast, either in Washington DC or in New York, or maybe both. Stay tuned. For now though, enjoy the collection of great tunes I'm about to throw at you.

John Dahlback has been one of my favorite producers ever since seeing him perform on Ibiza last summer. The man is simply a masterful producer and DJ, able to easily conjure up moods and grooves like few others in the business are able to. I have two complete bombs from him here for you. The first, called Winter, is his newest single and it demonstrates a perfect execution of gorgeous piano-driven progressive house. The second, a remix of Benny Bennasi's recent single Electroman is a HUGE electro-house jam that features tribal drums and centers itself around a viciously massive synth line reminiscent of Congorock's  Babylon.

New deadmau5 remix here, and I'm happy to say that it's rather progressive and quite wonderful, sounding more like the old Random Album Title deadmau5 than the new 4x4=12 shit. My faith in the mau5 has been continuously broken down, ever since his lackluster performance at last year's ultra and all of the terrible music he's been releasing lately. However, this remix, released this week on Ministry of Sound's Chilled House Session 2011, shows him returning to form, and hopefully this is a sign of more good things to come from Mr Zimmerman.

Avicii has been releasing music at a relentless pace recently, and one would probably expect that the quality would start to wane with him pumping out tunes at such a fast rate. Well, that's not the case,  as this remix shows.  I like the mix of the progressive sounding mallet hits with the electro drone that he seems to be favoring recently (see: the swede dreams remix I posted last week). I feel like this could mix seamlessly in a dj set with the awesome BOTNEK remix we posted a while back.

It's Over

Well it's been a long week, what with midterms and Augustus' harddrive being fried, leaving him out of the rotation temporarily. But, that's all behind us now; it's about time we get to enjoying ourselves.

Chaz Bundick is back as Toro Y Moi and this time instead of sounding like excited pop-soul, he has trimmed the fat, resulting in a more mature approach. "New Beat" sounds like future-disco in all the right ways.
