In A Dream

I'll begin this post the way I seem to begin many summer days. Out of a grogginess; out of a haze: out of the dream world and into the sun of the day. Pyramid is a young artist from France whose hallucinatory brand of hip-hop inflected electronic music conveys that essence perfectly in the form of this remix. Start listening from the beginning and you'll see what I mean; the ideal song to have bubbling out of the speakers as you drift back to reality.

Our friend Yooj (of Berlin by San Fran fame) has two big things going on right now that you need to know about. Firstly he gave away this super smooth track for free a couple weeks ago for anyone who likes his facebook page:



and secondly, his 'I Took You In' EP came out the other week on Not Bad Music - needless to say we're pretty excited about it. Each of the two original tracks are dark and sleazy in all the ways that make them perfect for a pulsing dancefloor sometime after 3AM, while the Ron Costa remix adds its own degree of techy flavor to the mix as well. To keep things going with the morning theme from earlier, this Paul Kalkbrenner track is another one I've been finding myself throwing on repeat whenever I want to wake up. Simple, raw elements mesh together to form a pulse of energy that constantly builds and crescendos over the 8 minutes of the track.

I saw Eric Prydz at the Palladium in LA last month (absolutely incredible) and it completely reawakened my love for the swede's banging style of progressive electro. This classic bootleg is definitely from the harder end of his discography..

Get Beached

Whatup yall, I just finished my last midterm (health & nutrition, what a joke) and I'm headed down to the beach for the rest of the day, but before I did I figured I'd drop you guys some of what I'll be listening to down on the beach and over the weekend. A healthy balance of relaxing and raging. Enjoy.

This first one has been one of my favorites for a while now. Hercules & Love Affair really struck gold on this track. So chill, perfect for lounging around in the sun.

We put this up a while ago in one of our 'beauty is simplicity' posts, but I wanted to repost it today because I really think it deserves some words. Charles I, the youngster producer out of LA, strays from his typical electro stylings on this one to put together an amazing piece of gorgeous house. The vocals are really amazing too. This is probably one of my favorite summertime/beach jams of all time, really really awesome. Honestly it's impossible to listen to this one and not just feel happy.

Weekend Music
Pyramid is a young producer out of France (I believe he's 16 or 17) who's been doing some really impressive, almost Alex Gopher style electro lately. We've featured some of his tracks before. The remix I have for you today by him strays from his typically more melodic style and dives straight into the realm of monster dancefloor-ready electro. A Millie by Lil Wayne might be a little old by now, but honestly this remix pumps a ridiculous amount of new life into it. Literally the louder you play this one the better it gets.

Laidback Luke gave this track away for free a couple days ago in honor of his 100,000th fan on facebook. Typical Luke-style dutch madness. Another track that simply gets better the louder you play it.

And to top things off I give you some wonderfully done progressive house by the Swedes Frederic Van Hooft and and Karl Aberg. This sounds Avicii-esque in terms of the straight quality of the production. Honestly I don't get why the swedes are so damn good at making amazing progressive house.. I'm not sure I care enough to find out, but I definitely hope to see some more from these two.

All This Gobbledeegook: Mega Post

I come bearing a cornucopia of songs. Tears of joy will spring from your eyes and streak down your face as your ears are bombarded with note after note of unadulterated perfection. I suggest taking a seat or finding something to support your wobbly knees as we proceed to today's track selections.

This one here is yet another demonstration of Keljet's masterful way with the synth. Rivaling his fantastic remix of Any Which Way, Keljet masterfully molds this Adele track into his own. Just wait for that massive guitar synth solo at around 3:10.

Now the original of this song is equally amazing in my opinion, but I really love the direction that Leo Zero has taken with this one. This track maintains a fairly relaxed feeling throughout, but the strange vocals and trippy repeating synth line provide enough entertainment to keep you listening.

Here we have an irresistibly upbeat rework by Kap10kurt. This tune would be great for those summer days at the beach. Captain Sensible's vocals are really weird... Strangely catchy. "It went bang! I said shutup."

Never heard anything from Drop Out Orchestra before, but I'm loving this funky rework they've done. I could listen to this smooth killer all day. Can't get enough of all the retro-ness going on in this throw back track.

Shook has crafted yet another great remix. Full to the brim with their signature scratchy bass synth that was so present in their wonderful remix of Penguin Prison's 'The Worse It Gets'. Like the title of the song says, your gonna wanna replay this one over and over.

Yeasayer is definitely one of my preferred indie bands, and although I wasn't entirely thrilled with their latest album, they have a lot to be proud of. Yellow Ostrich, aka Alex Schaaf, is a one man show from Wisconsin. I've got to hand it to him, this cover of Yeasayer's 'Tightrope' will be in my rotation for a while.

Pyramid is entirely unknown to me. Whoever this mystery man is, I commend him for his efforts. He has taken an almost untouchable classic by Air and brought it to new heights. Serenity and peacefulness floating through your speakorz.

'96 Bulls are still relatively new on my radar, but that is not to say they are any less deserving of praise than the rest of my favorite producers.
