Hands Up

Get excited, it's Friday.

Up first is a track that got a lot of love during HARD Haunted Mansion this year. Massimo Massivi, who I unfortunately couldn't find any info about, is responsible for "Hands Up". This is a banger if I've ever heard one. A steady buildup leads to a diabolical drop of siren type synths and a fat thumping bass drum. Do I need to say it? Blast this.

Next is a wonderful little remix by Casino Gold, a Los Angeles duo who specialize in energetic, pumping electro, of Will Bailey's "Chip Shop". The original, which is pretty big itself, is really pretty tame by comparison. The Casino boys assault the track with pitch bended synths, quick hitting drums, and a vocal cutup from the original.

Who is Discosamurai? No one really knows, but that doesn't really matter so long as he/she keeps churning out tunes like this...

Go Go Bizkitt! has been on the Bright & Shiny radar for a while now; no surprise really when you find yourself mindlessly grooving to his bouncy, disco tinged productions. Here's a great remix he did of Mr. Oizo's "Rubber".

More disco house, this time from a duo I really can't get enough of: Nightriders. These guys have the production of quality nu-disco down to a science. You can always count on them to provide you with some great sampling, beautiful filters, and a killer bassline underneath it all. Here's a remix they did for Aniki I happened upon the other day.

Patrick posted a preview of this track a while back, and I don't think it really got the attention it deserved. Fortunately, I snagged a 320 version of it recently to re-share with you all. It's a typical remix from Italian 7-footer Phonat, and by typical I mean fucking brilliant. With an ethereal, pulsing intro, it drops into a bassline heavy bomb with some classic Phonat cut-ups. The remix comes off of the Travellers EP, which is pure gold. I also recommend the equally genius Sharooz edit of the same track, which you can check out here.

About a week ago, Steed Lord uploaded "Don't Hurt Love" onto their soundcloud, or first glimpse of their upcoming Eddie House EP. The song is a return to the Iceland trio's house roots, and it's got me very excited for the release of their EP. Take a listen below..

Black Friday

Hope everyone had a great time celebrating the systematic destruction of hundreds of Native American men, women, and children. Haha no but really... I hope you did. Here are the tracks that you've been needing for that playlist you've been meaning to make.

I have something special for you guys today. My meanderings through Soundcloud have rewarded me with many a fantastic track, but a couple of days ago, I stumbled upon an artist with so many fantastic tracks, I basically need to show you his entire disco funk ensemble. All the way from Sydney, Australia, I bring you Flash Mode.

He's done a series of remixes that really mesh well with my ears. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy his adaptations, but I also really love all of the original tracks that he decided to remix.

I want to show you his first original track, but unfortunately he hasn't included the 'embed' option on his soundcloud, so you're gonna have to actually go to his page and give it a listen. Now remixes are one thing; a reinterpretation of an already formulated idea... But this, my friends, is one helluvan original. He really gets down and dirty. The chord progressions, the funky bass line, the cheesy 80's synths, the excellent production quality. Here's the link: Redshift

Never heard of these two boys, '96 Bulls, but based on this awesome remix of this Little Red track, I can't imagine its the last we see of them.

Treasure Fingers remix of an Eric Prydz track... Need I say more?

Breakbot just kills it regardless. I love him. You all should love him too. He's got them production skills like my heroes Daft Punk. I think he makes music specifically for me...

The C90's haven't exactly been on my radar until now. This little remix really gets the job done. Also if you stop by their Soundcloud, you should pick up their awesome November mixtape (free download!).

Poka has shown up a few times on Bright and Shiny. He really nails that french touch. With its chopped vocals and intro from Fear and Loathing, this track pushes itself to the top of my playlist.

Never heard of Turbogaz, but I'm really diggin' his remix of Homeboi's Schrimps (AWESOME original track btw).

Bonus y'all:

Go Go Bizkitt! is on a constant music making rampage, and no one is complaining. Now I Crave Paris has been so overplayed, but his reinterpretation gives it the face lift it needed to work its way back into my daily rotation. Enjoy.

I really tried to find a DL link for you guys on this one, but you're just gonna have to wait for the release. Thanks Gigamesh.

Going Away

Since I'll be riding in a random shit filled car tomorrow for 14 hours as I go off to St. Louis, I've decided to leave you all with a going away gift a bit early. The songs I have today are especially delectable. Eat em up.

I'll start things off with a very well done remix from UNC whiz kid, Hidden Cat. This isn't any face-pounding banger or get-on-the-dance-floor jam, but it's oh so nice.
Dirty Projectors - Stillness in the Move (Hidden Cat Remix)

Don't know anything about these LOL Boys, but they did a damn good job with this. This remix of AC Slater's "Hello" sounds absolutely nothing like the original, but that doesn't mean it isn't amazing. Very low-key.
AC Slater - Hello (LOL Boys Sunday Sunrise Remix)

Coma Cat + Go Go Bizkitt. Enough said.
Tensnake - Coma Cat! (Go Go Bizkitt Remix)

This Grum beauty really gets going late in the track.
Grum - Want U

PUNCHES, a Brooklyn duo comprised of two twin brother DJ's, have been putting a fresh spin on that disco house sound recently, as you'll see with this remix. Lovin the vocal sample.
Au Revoir Simone - Only You Can Make You Happy (PUNCHES Remix)

Fantastic remix from Aeons.
Amy Meredith - Young at Heart (Aeons Remix) [REMOVED BY REQUEST]

This last one is by far and away my favorite. It's incredible. Fred Falke and Alan Braxe by themselves produce gold. Together, they can do no wrong.
Jamiroquai - Alright (Fred Falke and Alan Braxe Remix)

-PK

Because I can.

The Only - Top of the Jam (Autoerotique Remix)

Back To School. To prove to daddy I'm not a fool.

Hey guys, Patrick here. Let's get right down to bidness, OKAY?

This first track is pure gold. It's an original mix. I love originals. Seeing as it's a little progressive house-ish, it's gonna take a minute to get into it. But once it does.... !!!

Go Go Bizkitt puts out an absurd amount of music. I can't say I love it all, but overall, he does very well for himself. Funky disco vibes oozing all ova da place.

This next one is a little upbeat hiphop/rap tune by Cee-Lo Green. Never heard of'em, but I'm really digging this song. Especially the lyrics.

This is a remix of a song by a friend of mine, Flashworx...(on facebook at least haha). Synth lead heaven! Thank you Deluce Shogan.

French girls singing, FOR THE WIN.

Dublin Aunts is a french/filter/disco/house/funk duo that I stumbled upon on SoundCloud. Quality quality.

Interesting way of getting the lyrics out there (Fuck You):
