I am all about Mercury. The Swiss duo consisting of a former hip-hop DJ and a drummer produce wonderfully soulful, very retro-influenced house music. I came across them for the first time with their remix of Le Le's Breakfast, which is still an all time favorite of mine and is guaranteed to set any party off; if you don't believe me, you've clearly never heard the song or paid attention to its lyrics. Since then, I truthfully can say that I have yet to encounter one of their productions that I don't vibe with immediately. Their latest is a re-work of Zimmer's "Slave To Your Heart", released on the DiscoTexas label. It features an upbeat organ synth chugging along with Jeremy Glenn's vocals and spaced out atmospherics. This remix from Siriusmo may be 4 years old, but I don't care because it's amazing and I've re-discovered it. It's probably my favorite Siriusmo remix ever, which is saying something given who Siriusmo is and the insanity he is capable of. Vassup y'aaaal. Vancouver based U-Tern, whom you may know as one half of nu-disco outfit Oliver, was kind enough to release this collaboration with AJK for free via soundcloud...Gods be praised. With a rolling and rollicking synth line filling the area between reverberated rimshots and punchy low-end percussion, this one seems appropriate for all times and places, whether you're just lounging at the crib or in the midst of a frenzied dancefloor. Though the title of this one from UK duo Audiojack urges the listener to "Get Serious", frankly thats the last thing I can do when I hit that play button. A seriously uplifting number, those chords in the breakdown, immediately followed by bouncy and playful tom and kick work, could not have me feeling higher. Give it a listen and see what I mean.
I'm not sure how Mercury haven't blown the fuck up yet, as their take on soulful, bass driven house music is too refreshing and unique to ignore. I've always been a sucker for vocal chops, but in "You Lift Me Up", it's the percussion that sets it off. It has a very retro feel to it for sure, but with modern flourishes that'd have it at home in any respectable club today. Mercury - You Lift Me Up

Danny Daze can do no wrong as far as I can tell. Like most of his tracks, this one is centered around a super thick synth line that only gets better as the track goes along. As the germans would say, das ist fat.. (I don't know if that's actually how they would say it, but this track really is fat..). Support the man and grab the release over on beatport. Porter Robinson's name is on the tip of everyone's tongue in the EDM world, garnering an impressive reputation for his genre-blurring, intricate, and downright filthy releases. This latest remix for Innerpartysystem shows us a slightly different side with a main melody I think would be right at home in the middle of a Sven Vath set. Of course, there's plenty of his typical bang and boom in the drops that follow, but it seems the NC whiz-kid is developing his style quite nicely. Buy the full release on beatport y'all. Now this a release I was looking forward to for a long time, ever since I heard the beginnings of the track in his "Shake Me Please" mix a while back.
