I'll begin this post the way I seem to begin many summer days. Out of a grogginess; out of a haze: out of the dream world and into the sun of the day. Pyramid is a young artist from France whose hallucinatory brand of hip-hop inflected electronic music conveys that essence perfectly in the form of this remix. Start listening from the beginning and you'll see what I mean; the ideal song to have bubbling out of the speakers as you drift back to reality.

Our friend Yooj (of Berlin by San Fran fame) has two big things going on right now that you need to know about. Firstly he gave away this super smooth track for free a couple weeks ago for anyone who likes his facebook page:
and secondly, his 'I Took You In' EP came out the other week on Not Bad Music - needless to say we're pretty excited about it. Each of the two original tracks are dark and sleazy in all the ways that make them perfect for a pulsing dancefloor sometime after 3AM, while the Ron Costa remix adds its own degree of techy flavor to the mix as well. Preview it below and grab the whole thing off Beatport.
To keep things going with the morning theme from earlier, this Paul Kalkbrenner track is another one I've been finding myself throwing on repeat whenever I want to wake up. Simple, raw elements mesh together to form a pulse of energy that
constantly builds and crescendos over the 8 minutes of the track.
download: Paul Kalkbrenner - Altes Kamuffel (Original Mix)
Check it as the opening track in this rather awesome live documentary..
I saw Eric Prydz at the Palladium in LA last month (absolutely incredible) and it completely reawakened my love for the swede's banging style of progressive electro. This classic bootleg is definitely from the harder end of his discography..

Two equally monstrous remixes, one of Gesaffelstein and one by Gesaffelstein. Future Rave.
download: Zombie Zombie - Rocket Number 9 (Gesaffelstein Remix)
download: Gesaffelstein - Hatred (David Caretta Remix)
I recently came across this free Mosca EP and was really impressed by what the UK garage producer could accomplish within a more traditional house structure. Smooth, unadulterated rhythm with sweetly soulful influences.

Ready For The Weekend
It's thursday and that means the weekend is finally almost here, which we couldn't be more excited about. It's not just any weekend... it's HALLOWEEN WEEKEND and that means a lot of things, all of them wonderful. Most wonderful of all though, it means that the legendary HARD Haunted Mansion is back to downtown Los Angeles and this year's edition is looking better than ever. We'll obviously be there, and we'll be bringing you coverage the whole time. Check the bottom of this post for our Bright & Shiny approved list of artists you shouldn't miss if you're gonna be in attendance.
I couldn't not include at least some form of this track considering the name of this post..
Download: Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend (DJ Kue's Last Song Of The Night Remix)
I've been sitting on this song for a long time and it's honestly one of my all time favorites, I'm actually surprised I haven't given it to you guys sooner. Seriously everyone I play this to absolutely loves it. I have no idea who Adam G is or whether he's done anything aside from this remix, but I got this song from my main man petey bowles who deserves a shout out cause this song is literally incredible. It fits literally any situation, whether that's a bumping dancefloor well after midnight or a chilled out day by the pool... Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean... turn it up and soak it in
Download: Angus & Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane (Adam G Remix)
Eric Prydz gives the new Digitalism single a decidedly Swedish glossing over. As always from mr. Prydz, this is pure quality.
Download: Digitalism - Circles (Eric Prydz Remix)
Finally, these last four should go perfectly with any ridiculous Bright & Shiny-type situations you might find yourself in over the next couple nights..
Download: Cicada - One Beat Away (Arno Cost Remix)
Download: Mr. Blink - Gecko (Original Mix)
Download: Lupe Fiasco ft. Ellie Goulding & Bassnectar - LightWork
Download: Tiesto - Maximal Crazy (R3hab & Swanky Tunes Remix)

Big
First and foremost, I have some very exciting news for you guys, the Bright & Shiny nation. We're stoked to announce that tonight is the first of what will become many more Bright & Shiny club nights. We decided to go big for our first event and teamed up with our friends over at UpsideSounds.com to bring in the kings of frisco-disco, none other than the legendary Italians Fare Soldi. If you're in the St. Louis area, this is an event you don't want to miss. Fare Soldi will be bringing the heat along with our very own DJ PK for a night of over the top raging and straight up hedonism. It's going down at the ultra-stylish Exo Lounge starting at 10pm, (18 to party 21 to drink, unless you got a fake ID doe..) head on over to the Facebook event page for all the details. Now for some music..
Tim mason, the Brighton-based producer on Steve Angello's Size Records who brought you the massive summer anthem 'The Moment,' is back again with another monstrous track. This new effort, a remix of 'I Can't Help Myself' by Lucid, simply has big room madness written all over it. I can't wait to drop this one in a dj set. Absolutely nuts.
Download: Lucid - I Can't Help Myself (Tim Mason Remix) (Extended Version)
I've honestly been waiting for this one to get released for download for months. This bootleg by GTA of the Phoenix classic 'Fences' is honestly amazing, but for the longest time it was only available for preview on their soundcloud. At first the group said they would release it when they reached 400 twitter followers, but it turns out they were kind enough to just give it away early the other day. Do something nice and follow the dudes on twitter over at twitter.com/wearegta. We've said it before and I'll say it again, these guys are the future..
Download: Phoenix - Fences (GTA Epic Bootleg)
Eric Prydz is one of the few dance music artists out there who you can consistently count on every EP he releases being worth a listen. His newest release, 2night, is worth more than just one listen, this is classic Eric Prydz and I'm sure a song that will be getting played over and over for years to come like Pjanoo or Miami to Atlanta. Tiesto himself called this track 'absolutely amazing' and I'd have to agree, it's filled with beautifully melodic piano lines and thumping kicks that combine to make it an instant progressive house classic. Grab the release on Beatport.
Download: Eric Prydz - 2Night (Original Mix)
To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how all of us at Bright & Shiny managed to sleep so hard on Porter Robinson's new Spitfire EP. I guess it probably has to do with the dubstep-fused tendancies of a lot of the tracks on the ep, but in between the dubby tracks are a couple of absolute anthems, like the song Unison. By far my favorite track off of the ep, Unison showcases Porters unique and highly technical production skills, and is a perfect blend of hands-in-the-air, big room progressiveness along with harder-hitting electro house. Give it a listen below and check out the full release on Beatport.

Grab Bag
The latest and greatest from Mr. Sidney Samson, this one was massive enough to find its way onto Moby's recent Beatport chart (alongside some other rather prime beats).
Sidney Samson - Punkass (Original Mix)
This next one is a really chill, more downtempo track, perfect for late nights or similar listening situations. Also be sure to check out Sei A's recent mix for Resident Advisor's podcast series for some more super high quality "afterhours bass-inclined tunes."
Mash - Somebody's Property (Sei A Mix)
Although I liked certain elements of it, I could never really fully get behind the new Swedish House Mafia single. Something about it felt a little too cheesy and almost boy band-ish for me. But lucky enough fellow Swedish producers Style of Eye and Carli (from the Savage Skulls) have breathed completely new life into it and made a total banger on this remix.
Swedish House Mafia - Save The World (Style of Eye & Carli Mix)
A classic from french techno producer Mikix The Cat.
Mikix The Cat - Keep On Wondering (Original Mix)
Eric Prydz has tried his hand at remixing two Depeche Mode classics recently, Personal Jesus and Never Let Me Down Again. Both are pretty great efforts, and showcase Prydz's massive production skills. Check my favorite out of the two below.
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again (Eric Prydz Remix)
One of Mumbai Science's most recent releases. As per usual from the Belgian duo, this one is an amazing blend of futuristic synths and a vintage pounding techno feel. Released on Boys Noize Records, you can buy it off beatport here.
Mixhell - Antigalactic (Mumbai Science Remix)
And finally a really gorgeous mash up of the classic I Remember with some vocals from a Late Night Alumni track off of their most recent album Haunted.
Deadmau5 & Kaskade vs Late Night Alumni - In The Ashes I Remember (DJ AFX Edit)
Oh and, I can't wait for this to come out:

Black Friday
Hope everyone had a great time celebrating the systematic destruction of hundreds of Native American men, women, and children. Haha no but really... I hope you did. Here are the tracks that you've been needing for that playlist you've been meaning to make.
I have something special for you guys today. My meanderings through Soundcloud have rewarded me with many a fantastic track, but a couple of days ago, I stumbled upon an artist with so many fantastic tracks, I basically need to show you his entire disco funk ensemble. All the way from Sydney, Australia, I bring you Flash Mode.
He's done a series of remixes that really mesh well with my ears. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy his adaptations, but I also really love all of the original tracks that he decided to remix.
I want to show you his first original track, but unfortunately he hasn't included the 'embed' option on his soundcloud, so you're gonna have to actually go to his page and give it a listen. Now remixes are one thing; a reinterpretation of an already formulated idea... But this, my friends, is one helluvan original. He really gets down and dirty. The chord progressions, the funky bass line, the cheesy 80's synths, the excellent production quality. Here's the link: Redshift
Never heard of these two boys, '96 Bulls, but based on this awesome remix of this Little Red track, I can't imagine its the last we see of them.
Treasure Fingers remix of an Eric Prydz track... Need I say more?
Breakbot just kills it regardless. I love him. You all should love him too. He's got them production skills like my heroes Daft Punk. I think he makes music specifically for me...
The C90's haven't exactly been on my radar until now. This little remix really gets the job done. Also if you stop by their Soundcloud, you should pick up their awesome November mixtape (free download!).
Poka has shown up a few times on Bright and Shiny. He really nails that french touch. With its chopped vocals and intro from Fear and Loathing, this track pushes itself to the top of my playlist.
Never heard of Turbogaz, but I'm really diggin' his remix of Homeboi's Schrimps (AWESOME original track btw).
Bonus y'all:
Go Go Bizkitt! is on a constant music making rampage, and no one is complaining. Now I Crave Paris has been so overplayed, but his reinterpretation gives it the face lift it needed to work its way back into my daily rotation. Enjoy.
I really tried to find a DL link for you guys on this one, but you're just gonna have to wait for the release. Thanks Gigamesh.
Herr Styler's innovative little video for Snow in Paris.
Love, Patrick
