I accidentally bought this song before I listened to a preview and had a fleeting moment of regret. Then I was like ‘oh wait, I’m an idiot, this is a DJ T remix. Give It Whatcha Got

I just came across this Mr. Rodriguez, but apparently he’s been in the game for quite some time releasing tunes from deep house to acid and nu disco and dropping remixes for acts like Tiger Stripes and Crazy P. But with aliases like ‘Future Beat Investigators’ and ‘Acid Kings’, just to name a few, how could this man not produce all kinds of great music. Here’s my favorite track off his recent “Dawn” LP that features his own vocals. Just after it’s settling into a steady rhythm and hitting the breakdown he whacks you with some old rave stabs. Didn’t expect that did you?

Starting with a dark piano solo and evolving into an trippy harmony, Maya Jane Coles takes on a remix assignment and develops something that I’m sure Bo Saris is proud to be a part of. I think at this point I’ve lost the ability to articulate how musically gifted this young lady is, so I’ll let the music do the talking.

I’m not sure how I completely slept on this Art Department remix given that I was obsessed with Jamie Jones’ effort for how long I can’t remember, but I would say they are easily on par with each other. This take is like a 9-minute ballad that keeps repeating in my head.

Kieran McDermott of Leeds dropped his Motion EP not too long ago and I suggest you check it out. The EP’s namesake track has a cool U.K. garage rhythm and even a little bit of Q-Tip, which is always a good thing.

Maxxi Soundsystem gathers the essentials of an 80’s hit to engineer a refreshing mix with a more active guitar riff. Although his typical bass driven style is evident, this remix clearly exhibits his versatility as a producer.

We Ready

Irishman Brian Durkin has been gaining momentum in the house music scene ever since he was picked up last year by Audiojack’s label, Gruuv Music, because of this debut single. Hugo morphs the original into a tech- house monster, ready to ensnare any late night dance floor dwellers. I’m not really a fan of the dubby breakdown later on, but everything else is on point.

This dude Solomun has been making his mark on this blog for some time now. I’m sure when we see him live in Miami this March, we’ll be fully convinced that he’s a straight up wizard. Based around a Tupac vocal sample, this jam epitomizes a booty-shakin' anthem.

I don’t know much about this Spaniard fellow, Tuccillo, but I definitely know I like this song. There’s a cool little guitar riff in there, and the bell synths remind me of the Round Table Knights Remix of Burning by MK. If you’ve heard that song… that’s all I need to say. If not, go run and get it.

Fresh outta Bristol, aka the new Compton, Lukas is doing big things. His tracks have a bass-ey feel similar to his cohabitators like Julio Bashmore and Eats Everything, but his music has a distinctly more chicago house, old school vibe to them. My homeboy patrick posted that Azealea Banks video the other day, and I have to say after he introduced me to her guiles over new years, I've been straight up hooked. I can't decide which is better, the song or the music video



The synth work here is so next level it's absurd. Solomun is quickly emerging as an artist we can't take our eyes off of; every track this dude releases is incredible. With that said, I'm not sure how I feel about the vocals on this one. It is a remix, so they probably requested he leave in all of the vocal track, but still it feels a little out of place here. Still a completely ridiculous track though.

Somehow I just discovered Croatian DJ/Producer Mladen Solomun in the last couple of months. To put it simply, this guy knows what is good. I don’t think I’ve listened to a track of his that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. I meant to post some more of his music along with the Noir & Haze remix I posted a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t fit them in. So here are couple more, of what I’m sure will be many, Solomun jams. The first one, a remix of So Phat!, is well, just that: phat. The second is a tech house monster I first heard in a Sven Väth video so you know it’s legit.

His typical mayhem infused electro has returned and leaves you wondering why you were just repeatedly smashing your head against the wall. I’m not sure when this track will drop, but I’ll make sure to keep a look out. In the meantime check out our interview with him for an overview of all that is Sharooz.

We have come to know and love Botnek for his interesting and crazy approach to music. This song, coming off of Southern Fried Records, presents a little different style for him (not quite as insane) that has got some groove. The sounds of whistles, Panamanian percussion, and Latin-American vocals abound in what will surely get you on your feet. Buy the track here.

DJ T. has been in the game for a long time and I continually enjoy his music. Clockwork, however, completely inverts this song of his and throws you in the front row of the show.
