Big

First and foremost, I have some very exciting news for you guys, the Bright & Shiny nation. We're stoked to announce that tonight is the first of what will become many more Bright & Shiny club nights. We decided to go big for our first event and teamed up with our friends over at UpsideSounds.com to bring in the kings of frisco-disco, none other than the legendary Italians Fare Soldi. If you're in the St. Louis area, this is an event you don't want to miss. Fare Soldi will be bringing the heat along with our very own DJ PK for a night of over the top raging and straight up hedonism. It's going down at the ultra-stylish Exo Lounge starting at 10pm, (18 to party 21 to drink, unless you got a fake ID doe..) head on over to the Facebook event page for all the details. Now for some music..

Tim mason, the Brighton-based producer on Steve Angello's Size Records who brought you the massive summer anthem 'The Moment,' is back again with another monstrous track. This new effort, a remix of 'I Can't Help Myself' by Lucid, simply has big room madness written all over it. I can't wait to drop this one in a dj set. Absolutely nuts.
Download: Lucid - I Can't Help Myself (Tim Mason Remix) (Extended Version)

I've honestly been waiting for this one to get released for download for months. This bootleg by GTA of the Phoenix classic 'Fences' is honestly amazing, but for the longest time it was only available for preview on their soundcloud. At first the group said they would release it when they reached 400 twitter followers, but it turns out they were kind enough to just give it away early the other day. Do something nice and follow the dudes on twitter over at twitter.com/wearegta. We've said it before and I'll say it again, these guys are the future..
Download: Phoenix - Fences (GTA Epic Bootleg)

Eric Prydz is one of the few dance music artists out there who you can consistently count on every EP he releases being worth a listen. His newest release, 2night, is worth more than just one listen, this is classic Eric Prydz and I'm sure a song that will be getting played over and over for years to come like Pjanoo or Miami to Atlanta. Tiesto himself called this track 'absolutely amazing' and I'd have to agree, it's filled with beautifully melodic piano lines and thumping kicks that combine to make it an instant progressive house classic. Grab the release on Beatport.
Download: Eric Prydz - 2Night (Original Mix)

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how all of us at Bright & Shiny managed to sleep so hard on Porter Robinson's new Spitfire EP. I guess it probably has to do with the dubstep-fused tendancies of a lot of the tracks on the ep, but in between the dubby tracks are a couple of absolute anthems, like the song Unison. By far my favorite track off of the ep, Unison showcases Porters unique and highly technical production skills, and is a perfect blend of hands-in-the-air, big room progressiveness along with harder-hitting electro house. Give it a listen below and check out the full release on Beatport.

You Breakfast

To start things off today I've got a simple house jam from Prince Club to set the mood. This one comes off of the 12th installment of Snatch Records along with two other supa-beats from the duo. Just in case I haven't hammered this point into your heads enough, these Canadians are ones to watch out for.
Prince Club - Body Holly (Original Mix)

Fellow German techno wizards Boys Noize and Housemeister team up on BNR's latest release: "Shizzo". With it comes "Saturday", a strange and distorted creeper with a rolling bassline and a eerie interlude that preps you for a pretty massive drop. See what you think below.
Boys Noize & Housemeister - Saturday (Original Mix)

I'm obsessed with this next one from Savage Skulls and Tony Senghore. It's got some serious bass, but the heavily effected vocals from Sprinkle Juice over the quick hitting synth punches are what make it for me.
Savage Skulls with Sprinkle Juice & Tony Senghore - Watching You

On the more banger side, this one from Will Bailey is exactly that, a banga'. Some classic rave stabs build into a diabolically grimy drop that'll blow the pants right off your legs.
Will Bailey - Dance 1.1 (Original Mix)

Porter Robinson's name is on the tip of everyone's tongue in the EDM world, garnering an impressive reputation for his genre-blurring, intricate, and downright filthy releases. This latest remix for Innerpartysystem shows us a slightly different side with a main melody I think would be right at home in the middle of a Sven Vath set. Of course, there's plenty of his typical bang and boom in the drops that follow, but it seems the NC whiz-kid is developing his style quite nicely. Buy the full release on beatport y'all.
Innerpartysystem - American Trash (Porter Robinson Remix)

Now this a release I was looking forward to for a long time, ever since I heard the beginnings of the track in his "Shake Me Please" mix a while back. "Feel Alive" is a classic display of Jean Elan's progressive mastery. I'll let the music do the rest of the talking, but please show the man some love and support the whole EP on beatport.
Jean Elan feat. Cosmo Klein - Feel Alive (Original Mix)

And to leave you, two tracks that I strongly encourage you to drop at your next party. The first, a killer edit of Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki's bomb "Turbulence", and the second...just listen to it, you'll understand.
Laidback Luke & Steve Aoki - Turbulence ft. Lil' Jon (Inquisitive Edit)

Le Le - Breakfast (Mercury Remix)

Yes or Not

Two of the Netherlands most exciting talents, Tiesto and Hardwell, combine their strengths on this MASSIVE, still unreleased tune to make a progressive sounding dutch masterpiece with more raw energy in it than a nuclear bomb. This is a radio rip, since the track isn't released anywhere, but the quality is better than just about any radio rip I've ever heard. This track isn't set to be released for more than a month, so help yourself to a serving of unreleased epicness.
Tiesto & Hardwell - Zero 76 (Original Mix)

Felix Da Housecat's most recent production clearly shows him trying to take his sound in a new direction. While the familiar, rave-leaning hi hat heavy sound of Felix is still present on Zaman, the track is clearly an attempt to imitate the big room sound we've come to expect out of artists like Kaskade and Laidback Luke. I think Felix succeeds for the most part, considering I find the song highly enjoyeable, but still it's a little disconcerting to see one of the games oldest and most respected names trying to warp his sound to conform to the contemporary vogue. Either way, this one is huge and it deserves to be bumped as soon as possible from your speakers.
Felix Da Housecat pres. Thee Nese Djouma Projesi - Zaman (Club Mix)

You might remember we posted Lazy Rich's remix of the Porter Robinson single Wildcat. You might also remember that the remix was multiple levels of badass. At the time, you probably thought that the reason we were giving you this remix must've been that the original itself by mr Robinson must've been somehow deficient. Not so. In fact, the original single itself hadn't been released yet, but it was released recently and it's even more of a banger than the Lazy Rich remix. Porter robinson reaffirms here why he's one of the fastest growing names in electronic music, and all signs point to that he's here to stay.
Porter Robinson - The Wildcat (Original Mix)

The Parisian madman known as Danger has released another remix, this time of the dubstep leaning group Nero. When I first saw the combination I thought it would be an interesting match, considering the two artists' preponderance for a darker, harder-edged sound. The track delivers on the darker edge of the spectrum, as the opening grinding electro chords suggest, but the track quickly develops into a more melodic, bouncy, french filter house sounding tune. Overall it's a seriously worthwhile effort from one of the most mysterious producers in the game.
Nero - Me & You (Danger Remix)

Sultan & Ned Shepard strike gold again here, crafting an epic remix that retains all of their big room sound while introducing a really interesting streak of electro-house to balance it out. I really love this direction of their sound, hopefully we get to see more of it. The drop around the 3:00 mark really pulls everything together.
Thomas Sagstad - Meiri (Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix)

I don't like Rihanna, so if I'm posting a remix of her, it's a pretty solid indication that the track is really good. That's exactly the case here as Dave Aude uses plucking strings and a trancey progressive feel to give this track a complete makeover.
Rihanna - S & M (Dave Aude Club Mix)

Le Troublant Acid is, as the name would suggest, an Acid House song. But it's probably an Acid House song like you've never heard before, considering it restrains the normally frenetic acid sound within the tight, filtered parameters of a french-house sensibility. The result is a dreamy, Daft Punk sounding track that's perfect for a relaxed day at the beach. I found out about it through this review, in which RA gave it a 4.0/5.
KZA - Le Troublant Acid

Deep
All of the tracks from here on out are about to be overwhelmingly, soul-movingly deep, so if deeper, techier sounds aren't your thing, consider yourself warned.

Personally I think this one could do without the vocals, but it's still got an irresistibly catchy groove and an awesome, rhythmic feel that begs to be blasted out of a huge soundsystem.
D.O.N.S. & Shahin feat. Seany B. - Rollin' Deep

Rule # 4080: Tribal drums and a sexy woman's voice are always a winning combination.
Bastian van Shield - King Of My Castle (Original Mix)

Found this one in a DJ set Umek played in Poland. So, yeah, it's completely nuts. The vocal sample and the pounding techno vibe make this one a must have. Here's the set if you're interested.
Alex Di Stefano - Yes or Not (Original Mix)

Talk Is Cheap

Less talk, more...music.

NC vunderkid
Porter Robinson smaashes "Seek Bromance" with this remix the way he seems to smash everything he touches, by slamming together the dirtiest bits of trance, electro, and dubstep into one filthy sound. Not recommended: playing this anywhere near the vicinity of your local retirement home.
Tim Berg - Seek Bromance (Porter Robinson Remix)

Some deeper, proggy type goodness from a man who grows nearer and dearer to my heart with each release I hear from him: Bass Kleph. Beauutiful drop around the 4:00 minute mark.
Jesse Voorn - Somewhere (Bass Kleph Remix)

The French just do it better. The piano synth line in his remix from Ed Banger all star DJ Mehdi is absurd. Everything else ain't bad either.
Eli Escobar - Love Thing Pt. 2 (DJ Mehdi Club Remix)

It's hard to resist checking out some good o'l Bart B More that I haven't heard before. Stumbled upon this edit yesterday as I was browsing through some older Fred Falke goodness. The Dutchman takes an absolute classic from Falke and his longtime co-worker Alan Braxe and gives it a bit more thump, certainly making it easier to mix with, but still maintaining its original sound and feel. How about I give you both?
Fred Falke & Alan Braxe - Intro

Fred Falke & Alan Braxe - Intro (Bart B More Edit)

The musical marriage of two disco-house heavy hitters could never be a bad thing. Second City Rhythm, aka longtime friends Ghosts of Venice and Adulture, just released their first production for free on their soundcloud. If that's not a deal I don't know what is.
Second City Rhythm - You Got Me

And finally, I give you a preview for a release I'm verrry excited about.I hope Highbloo is on everyone's radar at this point, cause the dude's got talent. "Time to Change Pt. 2" sounds like a dance-floor destroyer. Is that a Michael Jackson sample?

Noises, sequenced into rhythm

Ok so today is the first time we're using our new music player, let us know what you think. We think you'll really enjoy it, it has higher quality audio than our old flash player and you dont have to go through zippyshare. All you do is hit the play button next to the song to play it and right click---> download linked file to download the song. Onto the music..

This track has been blowing up the blogosphere, but not without good reason. Lazy Rich takes this Porter Robinson track to the next level here, combining grinding electro with splashes of prog-house chords to make a dancefloor killer of massive proportions.
Porter Robinson - Wildcat (Lazy Rich Remix)

I don't know much about the Canadian Lazy Rich, but this other remix has been in my library for a while and it's equally wonderful to listen to. He kind of reminds me of some older Wolfgang Gartner.
X-Press 2 - Lazy (Lazy Rich Remix)

After watching him literally tear apart hundreds of concertgoers at Hard Haunted Mansion, I've thought that Brodinski is one of the most exciting talents to emerge for a while. He's done a lot of work with fellow Frenchman, Noob, such as the older (but still really awesome) Oblivion Remix which I've added below the new track. Both of the two artists have a deeper, sort of techy, but also sort of dutch sound, that's distinctive and highly addicting. This new track they've done, Cajou Club, seems to be an evolution of the sound that was present on Oblivion. I like where they're headed
Noob & Brodinski - Cajou Club (Original Mix)

Brodinski - Oblivion (Noob Remix)

Speaking of Ed Banger, if we ever get around to making a best of 2010 list, I'm sure Cassius' I <3 U SO will be near the top as one of 2010's greatest set-closers. JFK has done a complete reworking of it here, twisting the slower anthemic ballad that it was into a newer, disco-electro fueled dancefloor monster. JFK has been really impressive lately, although it'd be nice to see some new MSTRKRFT every once in a while..
Cassius - I <3 U SO (JFK Remix)

This new Jokers Of The Scene track was released on Fools Gold, which was a little surprising to me since a 9 minute epic electronica piece doesn't really seem like something you'd associate with mr A-Trak. I suppose it just means the man knows talent when he sees it. Either way, this track is beautiful and expansive. Bright & Shiny approved.
Jokers Of The Scene - Joking Victim (Original Mix)

I was browsing around youtube the other day only to find this hilarious and kind of awesome video with a Dada Life song I was unfamiliar with. After a little research I found out it was basically their first song to get them noticed. It sounds surprisingly mature considering it was one of their first tracks, almost a little more controlled than some of the stuff they're doing now. Anyway, if you missed it like me when it came out, check it out below.

C'mon Give Me A Break

Starsmith first caught my attention for his production on Ellie Goulding's fantastic single "Starry Eyed." As an up and coming pop producer, I never have expected much from his original mixes, but this track is a surprisingly delightful nu-disco house jam. Look out for his debut solo single to be released on Neon Gold, coming this October 18th.
Starsmith - Give Me A Break (Radio Edit)

Parisian new-kids-on-the-block Gliterium have here some delicious disco house flavor for your ear.
Gliterium - Deep Down Inside

I know it might seem like the world is coming to an end, what with Bright & Shiny posting TWO dubstep songs in a week, but at least let me try to explain. I heard this song at a frathouse the other night, and was drawn to the dank hip-hop beat at the beginning. When the wompwomp comes in the songs goes downhill fast, but I find myself able to tolerate this sort of dubstep, or Dup-Hop as we here at Bright & Shiny have coined it, because of the compelling hip-hop beat fixed firmly beneath the womps, as opposed to the usual reggae-inspired dub beats or driven d&b beats which dominate the dubstep landscape. Props to Bassnectar.
Bassnectar - Bass Head (Original Mix)

We've been supporting Porter Robinson, 19 year old from Chapel Hill, NC, for quite a while now. I have not been too impressed by his new single "I'm On Fire," no disrespect to PK, but there's no doubting the kid is talented and I do have a couple of incredible remixes to share with you all. Right from the very beginning of every track you can distinctly hear the presence of Robinson's self-appointed primary influence, Wolfgang Gartner. And this is most certainly a good thing. Robinson takes the programming insanity that Gartner brings to the table and proceeds to smash it into as many things as he can. Robinson's frenetic productions have clear elements of electro, house, dubstep, progressive house and trance, yet as a whole his productions sound cohesive and resist genre categorization. Well played, my friend. First up is Robinson's hotly anticipated collaboration with Lazy Rich, "Hello," featuring Sue Cho on vocals. Second is his remix of Tim Berg's "Seek Bromance," a song whose many iterations never really really clicked with me. This outstanding remix gives the prog house anthem a thick electro sheen.
Porter Robinson & Lazy Rich - Hello ft. Sue Cho (Radio Edit)

Tim Berg - Seek Bromance ft. Amanda Wilson (Porter Robinson Remix)

Australian duo Light Year have come up with a winning combination. "Sex Education" blends a heaping serving of funk with wonderfully strange computer noises reminiscent of Soulwax/2 Many DJs. Maybe that's why they've been getting so much support from the brothers Dawaele and good friend Tiga. Yeah, you need to hear this fucking song. No release information yet, but these two are working on a new EP entitled "Five Girls" so keep your eyes out for some more of this techno funk.
Light Year - Sex Education

Big, fat yet deep, prog house bomb from the afrolatin Dutch master, Gregor Salto. I love Salto's consistently fantastic employment of knocking afrolatin drum patterns, but he even used a like pattern for his lead synth this time around. The Dutch are ahead of the game, like usual. Watch out for the final drop where Salto throws the lead synths from the original into the mix, forging an undeniable clubhaus anthem.
Chris Kaeser - Go Deeper ft. Erire (Gregor Salto Remix)

Everybody's Singin

Whattup everyone. I've got more new tunes that I'm pumped to share today. Acquiring these babies has gotten me through the week so far; they're guaranteed to help you finish out yours. From some fresh nu-disco to electro bangers, no matter what you're yearnin' for today, I've got what you need.

Porter Robinson. This North Carolina whiz kid topped the Beatport charts at only 18 years old with his genre-smashing hit "Say My Name". He's only getting better guys. Here's one of his latest releases, chock full of dubsteppy wobbles, electro-house hooks, and a dirty vocal sample. Beware the Porter Robinson takeover.

More North Carolina produced goodness, this time from Bright & Shiny favorite Hidden Cat. Known for spitting out some dreamy, trance-inducing remixes, with this original he shows us a bit of his harder side. Love it.

Delectable Dem Slackers remix from Evil Nine. This UK duo bring along a classic house sound and signature vocal chop-ups to every mix. And is it just me, or is everyone using those synths from Soulwax's remix of "Frequency"?

Back to the lighter side, I have a maaagnificent remix from His Majesty Andre of Voodoo Chilli's "Love Songs". Everything about this song is so damn funky it's almost too much. No, actually it's just right.

Alright guys. I give up. Honestly, Treasure Fingers is too good. I can't get enough of this Atlantian's stuff. Found this track floating around the web the other day, and instantly fell in love. The vocals, the bassline, the drums, everything fits together so well it's redonkulous. And did I mention it's really good?

To finish, I leave you with the hilarious video for Burns and Fred Falke's new collaboration Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me). I could not be more excited for this to be released.

And, as if that wasn't enough, here's the Treasure Fingers remix to hold you over until the original is released.
