Weekend Glow

 I'm finding it hard to accept that summer is actually over, which is something I unfortunately had to confront with my first day of classes starting today at 8 in the morning.. Luckily it's thursday which means the weekend is upon us and I can pretend like it's still summer for at least a couple more days. I've got a selection of massive tracks to help jumpstart your weekend so you can pretend like me that it's still the golden season for a little bit longer. Or at least they'll help you rage like it.

This first track comes from Myon and Shane 54, who you might remember for their awesome bootleg of Wonderwall. They've done it again here with a really catchy and listenable big room remix of A Million Stars by BT. I really like this sort of electro-tinged approach to progressive house that seems to be getting used more and more these days. Reminds me a lot of Alesso.

Next up I have the latest from Bright & Shiny homeboy and fellow UCSB student Ekstra along with Dave Tannin: an absolutely bomb bootleg of the Carte Blanche remix of  Scissor Sisters' classic 'Any Which Way.' The bootleg, which honestly sounds more like an official remix, is a straight up  stomper with a hard knocking electro drop. This next track is a bit different from the last two, falling way further on the tech house spectrum, but it's nonetheless just as gigantic. This has been a staple in sets recently by all stars like Claude Vonstroke and J. Phlip, and for good reason. This track is absolutely badass. The 808 drums in it take you straight back to the jackin' 90s but with a fresh, bass-heavy 2011 style to it. Eats Everything has emerged recently to be one of our favorite up and coming artists at Bright & Shiny, start listening at the build at 2:45 to see why. LA Riots decided to release their personal mix of the MSTRKRFT classic 'Bounce' for free on their facebook the other day. It's a  party-ready, absolutely jumping track, perfectly tailored for destroying dancefloors. Weekend approved.

Another party starter that's perfect for the weekend, Chuckie's latest remix of Joachim Garraud goes back to his traditional bouncy dutch style, and it's good to see Chuckie back at what he does best because for a while it seemed like he was wandering into kind of generic electro-house type stuff. This track isn't released yet, but you can grab the 320 copy below cause we're good like that.

Finally to round things out this next track is from the (way) deeper end of the spectrum. I found it alongside some other high quality deepness on the Beatport September Deep House Chart. The bass and vocal sample on it are outrageously catchy. House Nation. Bump this on a quality sound system to truly appreciate the old school jackin' vibes on this one.

Just in time for Christmas, LA Riots released their much-anticipated remix of Tai's "Paradise Poltergeist." This song was so pervasive at one point that it was virtually guaranteed to be in the set of any self-respecting, electro DJ. But, for whatever reason, the song never saw the light of day until very recently. Enjoy this track in the comfort of your own home by the fire with the family!

If anyone was wondering what this strange "house music" we keep talking about is, this track from Crazibiza meets the definition handily. This pounding groove would have your Grandmother shakin' her ass after too much eggnog. I've also included the sample used for the track, which I couldn't put my finger on until moments ago. Don't ask me how I know this obscure Italo-disco track, just know that I'm a musical librarian.

What's good everybody. Today's post will be somewhat of a sampler. I've got a smattering of nu-disco to set the mood, some prog house to lift you up, and some bangin' electro house and dirty dutch to smash you into oblivion. These songs will leave you about as satisfied as I am that I just used smattering in a sentence.

We'll start off with a nice little remix from an artist I've only recently become familiar with, but one I'll certainly be monitoring diligently in the future. I speak of none other than La Bombe label boss Sharooz. If you recall, I posted a killer edit he did of labelmate Opptimo's "Travellers" last post. I'll continue the magnificence with his remix of David Sugar's "Flea Market"

Seriously uplifting synths define this stadium-filling tune from Max Vangeli and that other Angello, aka AN21. The aptly title "Swedish Beauty" comes off of the Size Matters compilation, which was mixed by the two Angello brothers.

Massssive remix from LA Riots. The duo have been flaunting a bit more of their big room side lately, and I can't say that I'm upset about it. I don't even want to think about the destruction this tune would cause if it were to be carelessly dropped in a live set...or maybe I do want to think about it.

Huge, gigantic, big, holy shiiiit, and where the fuck are my pants are all words I would use to describe the official release of Dutch madman Afrojack's Replica. Everything you've heard so far has been leading up to this guy, so pump up the volume, clear the room of all pregnant females and house pets, and press play. LA Riots -- Los Angeles, CA (Fool's Gold)

Last night the rave rain fell in U Street Music Hall as Daniel LeDisko melted faces for three beautiful hours. I've loved LA Riots since they started out with their distinct electro sound but I had no idea they brought it so HARD these days. This man knows how to bring the heat and is under no circumstances to be trusted with your mother, sister or girlfriend. Highlights included Daniel, the lone LA Riot last night, dropping the AC Slater remix of Cooler Couleur with a big smile upon my request. Everything he played had everyone in the place jumping; there was not a moment during the entire set when sanity prevailed amongst the crowd. I have not raged that hard since UMF Miami, which means either I am a bitch or LeDisko on the decks is truly a thing to behold. The following songs are basically the only tracks that I can remember being played through the chaos.
