Shadow Dancer [BNR // Manchester, UK]

Allow me to introduce you all to Shadow Dancer, two brothers from Manchester whose prolific careers I had not been privy to until two days ago when I stumbled upon their new EP, Murder Room out now on Boys Noize Records and available on beatport. Signed to BNR in 2008, the brothers Farrier have been consistently churning out banging tune after banging tune; it's honestly quite astounding what these boys are capable of. From electro, to old-school house, to acid house, these dudes do it all and, most importantly, they do it really fuckin' well. If there's ever been an artist who reminds me of the legendary techno wizard known as Boys Noize, it's these young men with their technical skill and seemingly boundless production knowledge.

Speaking of BNR, last Friday saw the release of Boys Noize Presents: Super Acid. Yep, that's exactly as sick as it sounds: an entire Boys Noize curated compilation of brand new acid tracks from your favorite BNR artists. If you wanna know more about how the compilation came to be, read this absurd description of all things acid house by none other than Boys Noize himself. God Damn It

First up: NEW DUCK SAUCE. That's right, Bright & Shiny favorites and disco-house master craftsmen Duck Sauce have a new track. Now, its far from released, but the new track, tentatively titled "Goody Two Shoes" can be spied around the 40-minute mark in an absolutely smashing mix done by Louis La Roche for Australian radio station Triple J. Mind you, the track played is a Louis La Roche edit, but it's still positively delectable. The tracklist for the mix can be found below.

While we're on the subject of disco house, here's some french house to whet the appetite. Champagne Records is at it again with what looks like a delectable release from Bright & Shiny up-and-coming favorites Dom & Le Batman. This is just a one long preview of the whole EP, so I don't have a favorite yet, but I will say that the drums on the Jay Wesley remix are straight SILLY. The EP is out November 20th on Champagne Records.

A-Trak may be a DJ of legendary stature, but the man rarely puts out original productions in either of his spheres of influence: hip-hop and electro/house. This, however, is one of those rare and fortunate occurrences. The beat is super dope with some clear electro production tricks as inspiration, and the raps are fire, courtesy of CyHi Da Prince who recently signed to Kanye West's label, G.O.O.D. Music.

I knew Tinie Tempah had talent from his collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, but I must admit my general knowledge of the Tempah was straight lacking. This guy is accessible, flows like a motherfucker, and knows exactly what beats he sounds good over. If this track ever makes it to the US mainstream it will become an anthem. Mark my words. It's got all the necessary ingredients: swagger on swagger, "The Hills" references, and a hook about everyone's favorite activity, drinking. Oh and I forgot to mention, the beat fuckin' knocks, play it loud. Thanks to Abboud's french ass for showing me this gem.

Dillon Francis, GDD crew member and Masta Blasta extraordinaire, burst onto the scene earlier this year and made a name for making absolutely filthy dubstep. We're talking positively disgusting. But you all know that dubstep just isn't for us here at Bright & Shiny, although we recognize and appreciate it. Recently, Francis has made a few electro tracks in which he favors an afro-latin beat instead of his go-to dubstep studder, and they've all been absolute cash. Check out his reinterpretation of own his track with DJ Ammo, "Westside." I can just imagine dropping this track in a set at a slightly higher bpm to absolutely devastating effect.

French Touch gods Daft Punk are true jacks-of-all-trades. Their robotic interpretation of the R&B/hip-hop beat is refreshing. The duo crafts a smooth, muffled soundscape over which Pharrell exercises his famous falsetto with his funk band N.E.R.D. along for the ride. To be honest, I'm not even close to digging the vocals, but try and listen to the backing track because it's gorgeous; this brand of robot hip-hop is something I could definitely get used to.

Before his Daft Punk days, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo was one half of Le Knight Club off the legendary French house imprint Crydamoure. Quinten 909 of the Netherlands (another goddamn Dutchman) has impressed the whole of Bright & Shiny with the consistently outrageous quality of his productions. He does it again here, making this song more like Daft Punk than it already was. Do yourself a favor and watch out for this guy.

Geht's Noch?, a couple of nice young men from Belgium, have made a very nice song. The build-up is very strange, but when it drops... well, you know the rest. And make sure you're wearing a helmet.

I don't know what this says about me, but I had never heard of Martin Solveig until the release of his Hello EP with Dragonette. That being said, I am now convinced this man is a genius. The lineup of artists he commissioned to rework this track is so obscene that he will have forced us to put nearly every track from the EP on the blog by the end of the week-- it's THAT good. Now, I do have a conscience, so I insist that you go and buy the "Hello (Club Mix)" on beatport this instant. It's better than all the remixes, which are incredible, because it will have everyone from your girlfriend to your grandmother on the dancefloor faster than you can say "Who the fuck is Martin Solveig?" The first remix is from Dada Life who bring their uniquely ragetastic brand of electro direct to your face. The second is from Dutch warlock Sidney Samson, taking it back to the good old days with some delicious acid house. God, I love acid house and Martin Solveig.

Today's edition of Clubhaus is a mainly Dutch production... like usual. First up is Oliver Twizt, with this sexy, afro-latin inspired track.

AFRO YAAK. This is just a preview ripped from Tongy's show on Radio 1, but it sounds to me like Afrojack is taking his interpretation of the Dutch sound in a new, more club compatible direction. This is the most spacious shit I've heard out of him in a while. I dare you to listen to this and not imagine yourself dancing your ass off in some futuristic, warehouse rave like the one in that awesome Yeasayer video.

Speaking of spacious, I am very proud to bring you today a beautiful, prog-house song from AMERICAN producer, Ian Carey. Apparently Carey hails from Maryland like 3/4 of Bright & Shiny. Weird, right? Think again. Maryland is the next Netherlands. Mark my words, one day we'll all be listening to Maryland house when we're too drunk to do anything but dance. Anyway, this is the only good remix I've heard of chart-smashing single "Take Over Control" by Afrojack and it's VERY good.

DJ Chuckie (Dutch House -- Netherlands)

Beginning with his Dirty Dutch club nights in Amsterdam, Dutch DJ Chuckie has cultivated a unique sound with his clinical productions. In a genre where progress is made either of a technical or lyrical nature Chuckie has achieved both in his music, creating an entire genre of his own and leading his fellow countrymen to worldwide recognition. Since the genre has gained popularity one thing has become increasingly clear: nobody's dutch sounds are as compelling as Chuckie's glitchy, tech-jungle beats, derived in part from his apparent love of Chicago acid house. Nothing is out of place, every hi-hat and errant "bzzzrp" has its purpose in his soundscapes; the roots of Suriname-born Chuckie are evidenced by the favored afro-latino drum patterns in his work. A genre with a decidedly global bent in this, the internet era of instant globalization, dirty Dutch house is a disease: an infectious, antibiotic-resistant, pandemic disease. But I like it.

Now, enough with all this formally written nonsense. The fact of the matter is that every single one of these songs are absolute fire. Download them and play them loudly-- you will not be disappointed. All props are due to Augustus (who you may get to know if he ever decides to post) for introducing me to this first song in early March, beginning my insatiable addiction to Dutch House.
