Future Funk

"We don't really need a crowd to have a party, Just a funky beat and you to get it started."
download: Jobe - Future Funk (Original Mix)

Off of Purity Ring's recent (absolutle fire) debut album Shrines. I highly recommend you go buy the whole thing if you haven't already (here).
download: Purity Ring - Odebear (Original Mix)

The Magician: making the 80s seem cool again.
download: Sebastien Tellier - Cochon Ville (The Magician Remix)

These next two are two based and bassed-out garage style remixes. Love em, bump em, do anything with em, but whatever you do make sure you play em loud.
download: BRANKO - Going In Hard feat. Dominique Young Unique (French Fries Remix)

download: Kanye West ft. Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz - Mercy (D.Fine Remix)

I have to disclaim that this one is only 192kbps since this is a song that only exists on vinyl, BUT I will say it's definitely worth grabbing since it's absolutely gorgeous. Done by the mysterious producer 'N' for a special release on Exploited, grab the vinyl HERE. (by the way the producer is Noir)
download: N - Lucy In The Sky With Pearls (Original Mix)

Lose Yourself

Underground Sounds
A pinch of nu-disco and a handful of bouncing bass. Recipe for success.
download: James Curd - Decadance (Richard Richard Remix)

download: Azari & III - Into The Night (Softwar Remix)

I'm not really sure how to explain this track, but I can say from first hand experience that it's a dancefloor monster. At the right hour of the AM this one does unmeasurable amounts of damage. You've been warned.
download: The Living Graham Bond - Group Logic

download: Ben Westbeech - Falling (Deetron Acid Dub)

Although it's maybe not quite up to the uber-deep Will Saul mix, this Beni remix of Foreign Language is still really spectacular. Acid-tinged bass and bouncing grooves for days.
download: Flight Facilities - Foreign Language feat. Jess (Beni Remix)

Thank you Art Department in Miami for bringing this glorious slice of dance magic back to my attention..
download: Cajmere & Russoul - Let's Dance (Original Mix)

Delirious, slurred-down tech house from the Martin Brothers and dirtybird recs.
download: The Martin Brothers - Steal Drums (Original Mix)

download: Toky - About You (Fur Coat Remix)

Pounding Electrodes
I've been waiting on this release for a while now.. Italian lunatics Blatta & Inesha absolutely crush it here, sounding a bit like Mumbai Science on an acid trip gone terribly wrong.. 'Anatomy' is just the right amount of demented - the type of song that seems entirely appropriate with your face melting off in the middle of 3,000 other people at a festival.
download: Blatta & Inesha - Anatomy (Original Mix) *192kbps

LA-by-New-York producer Clockwork really seems to be coming into his own lately after a 2011 that saw him gain a fair deal of recognition, mainly from his 'Levels' remix. This next track Nox, off of his 'Squad Up' EP on Dim Mak is by far his most impressive effort yet.
download: Clockwork - Nox (Original Mix)

Acid fused techno that sounds like it'd fit just as well into a Brodinski set as a Sven Vath one (in other words.. it's b o m b)
download: Mao - Harken (Acid Version)

Once again, an acid-inflected cut that seems like it has Brodinski written all over it. This song is pure madness, old school piano stabs and rave acid synth lines swirling all over the place. Could probably be a little bit longer than 4:45 though..
download: Housquare - Saphir (Original Mix)

Speaking of Brodinski....
download: Surkin ft. Ann Saunderson - Lose Yourself (Brodinski Remix)

It's not nearly as hard hitting as everything above, but this Alex Kenji remix effort is mega funky. And the tribal african-esque sample it's centered around is rather wonderful too.
download: Sander Van Doorn - Outro (Alex Kenji Remix)

Old School ravey vibes from from long time new york party champion Tommie Sunshine. The Dominating Force, Is Sound. Out now on Bart B More's Secure Recordings.
download: Tommie Sunshine - The Dominating Force Is Sound (Original Mix)

Simple, booty-shakin' dutch house like it's 2009. Kinda like Chuckie when he used to make good music.. Out now on Bingo Players' Hysteria Imprint.
download: Kenneth G - Bazinga (Original Mix)

In my mind, generally it's much more difficult for an electro track to be sexy in the same way that deeper or subtler house tracks can be. This next remix is the exception to that rule. Dirty, sexed-out electro from some of our favorite party-minded Canadians, Autoerotique. Filthy...
download: Tiesto ft. Kay - Work Hard, Play Hard (Autoerotique Remix)

Bonus
You can always count on The Magician to bring good vibes with his tunes. This remix came out for free the other day and the only way I can think to describe it is like 80's dream pop with fun-in-the-sun overtones. Love it.
download: Scenic - Another Sky (The Magician Remix)

download: Softwar - This Time Around (Original Mix)

Stay Classy,

Where's The Love

I first heard this one during a sublime set by Danny Daze at Spybar in Chicago, and from what I can tell it's been one of his staples over the past couple months because he played it again when I saw him in DC a few weeks later. All I can say is this is a song that really sounds incredible when it's thumping out of the right sound system at full blast. Show some love and grab the full release on Beatport (on Sven Vath's Cocoon Recordings).
download: Guy Gerber & Shlomi Aber - After Love (Original Mix)

I don't know if you guys have listened to Brodinski's Fabriclive 60 Mix yet, but if you haven't I highly suggest checking it out. It's basically an hour and twenty minutes of dark and relentlessly good techno that shows off the frenchman and his superb mixing skills at their absolute best. One of the highlights of the mix is this next tune, a remix by Gucci Vump, which is really a collaboration between Guillaume of The Shoes and Brodinski himself. Anyway, this track is simply a monster when it's dropped at the right time. For some reason it's not on beatport, but you can grab it off of Itunes.
download: Woodkid - Iron (Remix by Gucci Vump)

I'm not sure why I wasn't crazy about this one when it first came out, but I'm really feeling it lately. Another track where the louder you play it the better. Be sure to check out Surkin's whole USA album for the full release.
download: Surkin - Ultra Light (Original Mix)

I love songs that have you convinced for the first part that you know where they're going, only to completely pull a 180 and confuse the fuck out of you at the drop by going a totally different and way crazier direction. This next song is exactly like that. It alternates between deep, chicago-ey vibes and off the wall bristol-ey bass lunacy, making it the perfect type of song to drop during peak time of a set. For lack of a better word, this one is straight up mental. Beatport it to buy the full release.
download: Luca Lozano - Thug It Out (Original Mix)

I managed to sleep on this release by (for those not in the know, formerly 1/2 of Aeroplane) The Magician, but this one is ridiculously catchy and reminiscent of some of the best Aeroplane numbers. Jeppe contributes on vocals, showing that "I'll Get You" is hardly the only uber-catchy vocal performance that dude is capable of. Apparently he wrote all the lyrics in a shack in the desert, which is pretty cool too. And somewhat confusing because this is like, the ultimate beach song...
download: The Magician - I Don't Know What To Do feat. Jeppe (Original)

And finally.... this video is always worth a revisiting. Happy Friday.

Don't Stop The Music

Surprise!!! You may have seen my name tossed around here a few times, but I come to you now as a new writer for the Bright & Shiny team.
What this means for you all: More good music, more often. These friends of mine, that I'm sure you have come to adore, introduced me to electronic music so you should find that my muiscal tastes are very similar. On that note, let's get down to it. I've got some goodies for you today.

Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst, better known as Bassjackers, released this banger a few weeks a ago and their dutch house sound is on point. But it here on beatport and check out some of their monster remixes if you haven't already.
Bassjackers - Mush Mush (Original Mix)

My friends Beau requested this one at a party and it rocked the dance floor. Basically, people lost it. I don't know much about the Brooklyn-based DJ/Producer Gustolabs , but this Avicii edit wll get anybody dancing.
Avicii - Fuck The Music (Gustolabs Re-edit)

The Magician, formerly one-half of Aeroplane, has been doing quite well for himself in his solo efforts and this Yuksek remix is no exception. Well placed piano stabs come in around the 1 minutes mark and compliment the vocals very well. I can't get this song out of my head.
Yuksek - On a Train (Magician Remix)

This one comes off of Scream & Shout Recordings from newcomer(s)? Damn Stupid. Little is known about them, but coming from a label that includes the likes of Deniz Koyu and Bodybangers you can be sure they're not messing around. This electro number, 'Goodbye Girl', includes an apparent, but very effective sample of 'Animal Rights' and hits hard.
Damn Stupid - Goodbye Girl (Original Mix)

I love the funk. Zapp & Roger, a soul and funk band from the 70's and 80's, are best known for hits like 'More Bounce To The Ounce' and 'Computer Love'. Their orginal 'Do It', however is the one that gets the special treatment from Australian Jacob Farah, or Jasper. A more upbeat rhythm and wonderfully choped vocals make for a great combination. According to his soundcloud, Jasper "lives by the ethos to music 'to make music is to make people smile". It also says he enjoys picking Smurf berries with the Smurfs in his downtime... Interesting.
Zapp & Roger - Do It (Jasper Remix)

The Legendary Erol Alkan spices up this Metronomy original with a catchy bassline that you can't help but groove to. Sure it may get a tad repetitive, but it feels soo good.
Metronomy - The Bay (Erol Alkan's Extended Rework)

I also strongly suggest you check out Identity Festival because Erol and some B&S favorites (Kaskade, Chuckie, Avicii, just to name a few) will be terrorizing over 20 U.S. cities this Summer.

Some old school Siriusmo just because he's amazing.
Siriusmo - Blaue Sonne

I leave you with this track off of Hey Champ's new EP 'Anything At All' that comes out tomorrow. The trio teamed up with Eliot James, who has produced for Two Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party, and they have come up with something special. Oh and they're giving it away on their website and here.

I'm not nervous, she's not nervous

Interesting post today. Some new stuff, some old stuff, a few mixes. Embrace.

This little gem was released this past November on Simian Mobile Disco's Delicacies. It's more than a bit techy, but as you guys can probably tell by now, B & S seems to be going through a tech house phase lately.
Simian Mobile Disco - Skin Cracker

Cosmonaut Grechko has tried his hand at fantastic track by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. He's transformed it into a dreamy candy land filled with bell synths and upper register melodies.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps (Cosmonaut Grechko)

Com Truise is awesome. He recently put out a great original track that I have here for you today. I really enjoy the instrumentation and the chord progressions. He gives the track a Washed Out esque feel to it that soothes my currently exhausted self.
Com Truise - Slow Peels

The last two tracks I have for you today are actually quite old, but amazing none the less. Yelle just released their new single, Safari Disco Club, check it out for sure (it's freeeeee). Overall, my favorite Yelle track has got to be Ce Jeu. The Tepr remix (which has been posted before but deserves it again...) absolutely knocks it out of the park.
Yelle - Ce Jeu

Yelle - Ce Jeu (Tepr Remix)

The second part of this post is comprised of four new mixes that I came across on SoundCloud. All four of them are free (!!!) and you can download them all directly from the artists' soundcloud pages as well as acquiring the track lists. Have at them.

This is an exlcusive mix that Nightriders did for Les Petits Bruits, a fantastic blog with a sexy layout to boot.

Bonus:

Oliver uploaded a new original track to his soundcloud about a month ago, and I just go around to listening. Much like most of Oliver's material, this disco house is nothing short of superb.
