Never Lose A Beat

First up today is an Attack Yourself! Re-Edit of a remix that Art Department put together for Azari & III. Those are three names that anyone should love to see grouped together on the same track. This was actually released a couple of months ago on Attack Yourself's SoundCloud page, but we never got around to posting it in all its wonderful glory. The lyrics and vocal lines are infectious and the beefy percussion has even the least coordinated of us moving to the beat. I'm pretty sure listening to this track just makes you a cooler person overall.

Yuksek (aka Pierre-Alexandre Busson) is one Frenchy that rarely produces a bad remix. Taking a great original from one of my preferred indie bands, Noah and the Whale, Yuksek transforms this track into an upbeat, synth heavy jamboree. How nice of him to give this bad boy away for free.

This next track is piano stabs central. I am such a sucker for acoustic piano synths... they sound so organic and beautiful. Charles I released this remix for free on his SoundCloud page and I have not been able to get it out of my head since first hearing it. Signed to Stardust Records in LA, Sam Luria is quickly ascending the staircase to super-coolness.

Goldroom - Morgan's Bay (Charles I Remix)

DC's own Volta Bureau is comprised of Will Eastman (Co-owner of U Street Music Hall), Outputmessage, and Micah Villien. They are relatively new to the scene as a group and I had the distinct pleasure of watching them open for Treasure Fingers several weeks ago. One of their newer tracks, On Your Own, was recently uploaded for free for your listening pleasure. If you haven't already, get a taste of what they have to offer below and lookout for their first single, Hope, which drops this August.

Now this next update is quite exciting. Fool's Gold proprietor and music industry wunderkind, A-Trak, announced yesterday that he will be initiating a new radio show with Sirius XM's Electric Area. The very first mix for Fool's Gold Radio has been released and I must say, I'm really looking forward to this radio show. The third Monday of each month, the world will be graced with yet another hour long mix from one of the stellar producers on this magical label. You take me higher than I've ever been babayyyyyyy. Nicky Romero's masterful reworking of Green Velvet's Flash is a track that everyone has heard by now, (whether they know it or not) as it was played at just about every festival in the world for this past year. Romero has come up with another huge track on his remix of Sidney Samson's Dynamite here. The name 'Dynamite' is fitting because thats exactly what this track is.. dynamite. The drop is  ridiculously big. The first time I heard it I thought it was almost too jarring how suddenly it just slams you in the face, but the more and more I'm listening to it the more I'm realizing it's straight genius. I can't even imagine this track blasting out of the speakers in a festival setting... it would be simply ridiculous. Crank this one up to 11 and fast forward to the 1:00 minute mark

I'm actually completely mystified that this next track never got more attention from everyone, including by myself. I only bothered to download it the other day, but why I have no idea. Avicii and Daft Punk, that's like a dream combination.. And this track actually lives up to the hype. Avicii takes the ominous Daft Punk track Derezzed from the recent Tron movie and transforms it into an elating wondrous chunk of melodic house. I remember Avicii dropping this main stage at ultra and watching  the entire crowd go berserk, people jumping all over the place and every single hand reaching straight into the air.. Up next I have two new tracks from Dutch duo Bingo Players. Just a warning, if you're looking for another 'Cry (Just A Little)' you're not about to get it. These two tracks are more along the lines of the duo's first breakthrough hit 'Devotion,' showcasing a really unique, stripped-down tribal style of dutch house. Both of these tracks are completely bonkers. Fellow Dutch duo Chocolate Puma's deserves credit for their influence on the second track, 'Disco Electrique' too.

Swedish youngster Alesso has been on the tip of everyone's tongue recently after his massive remix of Pressure basically took over the world, getting a #1 spot on the beatport charts and finding its way into sets by everyone from Avicii to Swedish House Mafia. He's back here on a huuuuge remix of the recent SHM single 'Save The World', taking the track and giving it a (much needed) harder edge than the original. The drop around the 4:30 mark is incredible.

Rising Dutch star R3hab shows here that he can do more than the standard off-the-wall dutch house drops that he's known for, going for a more progressive leaning sound on this one. Absolute big-room thumper, this song shows why R3hab's one of the fastest growing names coming out of the Netherlands right now. BOMB

Finally I need the help of everyone in the Bright & Shiny nation with a beatport account on this one. Whether you know it or not, there's currently a remix competition going on for Afrojack & Quintino's track Selecta. The winner gets an official release on Afrojack's label, Wall Recordings, along with a bunch of other cool stuff. My good friend Ekstra has recently submitted his own remix, and I need all of your help in the voting process to help get him some attention. Futureboogie Recordings [Bristol, UK]

Futureboogie Recordings have been making quite a splash in the underground house world recently and for damn good reason. With a thin catalog of only three releases, it has already become abundantly clear that these fellows out of Bristol mean business. In just three releases Futureboogie has begun to cultivate a sound entirely unique to the Bristol scene; an innovative and modern sound which is in part inspired by the strong UK culture of bass music, but is entirely endebted to the sound of Chicago house's past. Among the all-star cast of artists they support are Christophe, Behling, Coat of Arms and the man everyone's talking about these days, Julio Bashmore. With their souls rooted in the past and their eyes strained toward the future, its no wonder the artists of Futureboogie Recordings have found themselves so quickly in the warm hearts of house-lovers the world over.

Dayum I love me some promo action.

PIE Artists sent this little sneak peak of Prince Club's Ice-T EP the other day. It drops in two days on Jesse Rose's own Made To Play label which houses other Bright & Shiny favorites like Round Table Knights, Riva Starr, and Oliver $. I've been pushing these Canadian house maestros ever since I heard tracks like "Love Jackson" and "Buddy Holly", and the upcoming EP fits right in with that signature sound: a distinct old-school vibe with a modern gloss. The title track definitely jumped out at me the post, so I'll throw a little preview of it below. Be sure to check out the full release come July 11th people.

I really can't tell you much about Rogue Vogue other than that, as his soundcloud mentions, he hails from Chicago and he makes beautiful beautiful music. "Sunshine'n" grabbed my attention immediately with its choice vocal sample and delectable piano hits. As the name suggests, this one is perfect to jam to in the summer sun, but I would encourage its use at any time of day really. Everbody loves the sunshine.

If that one didn't satisfy your need for groovy downtempo house music, this next one should do it. Dutch duo Homework's "Rally Racquet Club" EP dropped back in late June, but it's certainly not too late to get on board with these guys and their brand of slow burning house goodness. The title track steals the show with a bassline riff that'll embed itself in your head for days, but with remixes from the likes of Oliver $ and Samim, the entire release (again on Made to Play) is one worth two looks, so check it out, buy it out, and play it out, here. Made to Play is on its game right now, that's for sure.

Homework - Rally Racquet Club

This one's all the way back from 2010, but I just heard it for the first time in a mix and decided it would be criminal for you all not to have a listen if you don't have it already. A1 Bassline kills it with this one, that's all I'm going to/have the effort to say.
